Chapter 1
—
Annie's eyes widened in shock. "Hold on, doctor, I am here for a medical checkup and not an insemination. My name is Annie," she said, her voice firm.
The doctor's eyes widened in surprise, and he rushed towards the table to check her medical records.
The nurse, who was also with Catherina rushed over to where Annie was so she could stop the doctor but it was too late, she realised that their medical reports were swapped because Catherina had said the same thing: "I came for an insemination, not just a medical checkup."
She rushed over to see the medical records in the doctor's hand. "Oh my goodness, doctor Albert, the lady you just inseminated is Annie. She's a young girl, and she only came here for a medical checkup. Turns out that you have inseminated the wrong person," she said, her voice barely above a whisper.
The doctor's face turned pale as he realised the mistake. "This can't be happening," he muttered, his eyes scanning the records frantically.
Annie's eyes welled up with tears as she processed the news. "What do you mean I've been inseminated? I didn't consent to this!" she exclaimed, her voice rising.
The nurse tried to calm her down. "I'm so sorry, Miss Annie. This is a terrible mistake. We'll do everything we can to fix it."
But Annie was beyond consolation. She felt violated and betrayed. "Fix it? How can you fix this? I don't want to be pregnant! I am a virgin what would my mom think of me?" she cried, her body shaking with sobs.
The doctor tried to explain, but Annie wasn't listening. She stormed out of the office, determined to get to the bottom of the mistake.
Catherina burst into the doctor's office, her face red with rage. "What's the problem? Who on earth did you swap my medical record with? How could you even make such a sily mistake?" she said, her voice rising.
The doctor tried to calm her down. "Relax, ma'am, we can sort this out once we tell Mr. Henry—"
But Catherina cut him off. "Shut the f**k up! Do not tell Henry about this; it's going to backfire on me," she yelled, her eyes blazing with anger.
The doctors kept mute, intimidated by her outburst. Catherina handed them a check. "That's two hundred million dollars. I hope this is enough to buy your silence. I am the one who was inseminated, and that's final. If the girl comes back here, deny her," she said, her voice cold and calculating.
The doctor accepted the check and nodded, his eyes wide with fear. Catherina turned and walked away, leaving the doctors in stunned silence.
Meanwhile, Annie was still reeling from the news. She walked out of the hospital, her mind racing with thoughts of what to do next. If her mother found out about this, she was done for.
Annie quickened her pace, her heart pounding in her chest. She couldn't believe this was happening to her. She was just a normal college student, and now she was accidentally inseminated.
Annie walked into the house, greeted by the sound of her mother's loud voice. Mirabel who was arguing with a group of young ladies, her words dripping with venom.
"My daughter is a decent child, unlike you all who sleeps with every man around," Mirabel said, her eyes flashing with anger. "I can proudly say my daughter is a brilliant girl, and to top it off, she is a virgin. I raised my daughter to keep herself for her future husband, so you girls better learn from her."
Annie's heart sank as she entered the room. She knew she was in trouble. Her mother's words were like a slap in the face, a harsh reminder of the secret she kept hidden.
Mirabel turned to Annie, a proud smile spreading across her face. "You're back, now tell these ladies, I told them to learn from you.Nowadays, it's so hard to find a lady who would remain a virgin at the age of 21."
Annie nodded, trying to hide her discomfort. "I'm tired, mom. I should head inside," she said, attempting to excuse herself.
But Mirabel wouldn't let her off the hook. "No, no, tell them. Tell them how you've kept yourself pure for your future husband."
Annie's face burned with shame. She couldn't bear to look at her mother, couldn't bear to lie to the poor ladies. She knew she had to come clean, but the fear of her mother's wrath held her back.
"I...I need to go, mom," Annie stammered, trying to escape the room.
But Mirabel's grip on her arm was like a vice. "You'll stay right here and tell them the truth," she hissed, her eyes blazing with anger.
Annie knew she was trapped. She had to think fast, come up with a plan to get out of this situation without revealing her secret.
“Why are you avoiding my question? It's not a shameful thing to tell your fellow lady that you are pregnant, just tell them with your mouth that you are a virgin and I will let you go inside, they need to hear it from you” she said
Annie nodded, her eyes darting towards the ladies who were expecting to hear from her “She was right, I am a virgin and I have kept my virginity for my future husband so I hope you learn from me just like she said”
“See…” Mirabel said her voice rising “I raised my daughter well” she added
As Mirabel continued to boast about Annie's virginity, Annie smiled and turned to excuse herself. But her smile faltered as she felt a strange sensation between her legs. She turned back, and her mother's eyes widened in horror.
"Annie? Why is there blood on the back of your cloth?" Mirabel asked, her voice trembling.
Annie's eyes dropped to her white gown, and she felt her heart race as she saw the crimson stain spreading across the fabric. She froze, unsure of what to say or do.
The room fell silent, with all eyes on Annie's stained gown. Mirabel's face turned pale, and she took a step back, as if she'd been slapped.
"Annie, what's going on?" one of the ladies asked, her voice barely above a whisper.
