*Alya p.O.v* A week ago, I never intended to mate or mark or marry, but being the only child of the king as well as a woman, I am expected to find an alpha to help me rule over the Lycan covens. I believed my father entrusted me with this immense power, especially since I have trained for this my entire life. But sadly, I was mistaken. *A WEEK AGO* “Princess Alya, your father needs you in is office”, my fathers beta mind linked me while I was in my room studying. “Coming”, I replied. I closed my books and rushed to fix myself. It would be improper for me to face him looking so informal. I brush my long jet black hair into a bun and put on a professional black dress before heading up to his office. You may ask why I did this just to see my father in our home? He expects nothing but perfection from me. Im all he has since my mother passed and he hasn’t been the same since. I could feel the tension as I reached the top floor. Everyone was silent and my father’s beta, Allister, was standing outside the office with a rather bleak expression. I wanted to ask what was going on but I could tell by his face that I would soon find out. I entered the room to see my father and stepmother standing in front of each other with murderous glares. When my stepmother turned to me her face softened, but I could see the pity in her eyes. I love my stepmother. Her name is Lyla. She was a pack doctor before my mother passed and my father decided to take her as Luna. She has always treated me like her own and for that she will always be the mother I wasn’t granted. I walked in and she came over to me and placed my hand in hers while we took our seats. I focused on her as my father didn’t seem to want to look at me. Before I could ask or even say a word my father said something that filled my heart with the fire of a million stars. “You are to be married to Alpha Nyx of the dark-night pack before the next full moon” my father said as I stared daggers at him. He knew me and how I would react so before I could say anything a lox growl erupted followed by “ THATS FINAL. No discussion necessary”. I bolted up and walked straight out without another word and headed for the river beside our lands. Growing up I never had much affection. I am 19 years old and I can’t remember the last time someone said I love you to me. I have always been protected. Hidden is more accurate. My mother was fierce and headstrong. She died saving our pack and my father never forgave her for it. I believe he treats me the way he does because I’m just like her in looks and mannerisms. I have her long black hair, her piercing green eyes and her never ending determination. But what he doesn’t see is the him in me. The anger and hate I radiate is him. The stubborn, bullheaded side of me is him and he hates every bit of it. The part that’s him and the part that’s me. I’m not like other wolves. I have gifts passed down they my family line to Lycan/wolf royalty. The only problem is I don’t know what my powers are or how far they go. I’ve been limited to absorbing energy and healing others because of my fathers fears. Fears of what? I’m not sure but I will find out and I will do it before the next full moon, cause I’ll be damned if I marry that dreadful alpha Nyx.
