Unexpected Savior

Serena works in the modeling industry, and as she is beautifull, she is easy to work with as well. Her personality carries her as many designers wish for a model to be as easy to work with as Serena. But because of this, other models dispised Serena. They were jealous of her getting all the best paying modeling jobs without much effort. What most of the models dont know is that Serena works hard to reach her goals, and to reach each deserving milestone in the industry. She works hard to care for her mother who is constantly in hospital and needs constant care as she battles stage 4 leukemia. Her father left when she was 15 years old after finding out of her mothers prognosis. He did not want to be with a wife that is sickly and that would be a financial burden according to him. I had a good relationship with him until he reffered to my mother as a burden. I have not spoken to him since then. He tried reaching out after hearing of my successes, but that is only because he wants me to support his gambling addiction, which ofcoarse i will not. He remarried, to a woman named Lisa whom after learning that i refuse to pay my fathers gambling debts have gone out of her way telling me how selfish i am in not supporting my father after he took care of me most of my life. I can only read her texts and laugh as i feel she is not worthy of a response. Where was he in supporting his wife and daughter when they needed him most. I could not even finish school as i had to work to support my mom and pay bills so she does not get behind. For the past 5 years i have worked hard to barely survive as it is paying my moms bills and making sure we dont lose our home. I have landed a big contract with one of the biggest modeling agencies 2 months ago and have been working every day for the past 2 months. I am yet to be in a position to say no to a job, but for now i am happy to work constantly to ensure my mom can focus on getting better. Today is the first day i have a day off, and have decided i need to have a bit of fun for once with my friends. Maya and i have been friends since kindergarten, and i have not seen her in almost 2 years. "Serena! OMG it is soooo good to see you. How longs it been?" Maya asks. "Two years, and i see you have not changed a bit. I have missed seeing you." "i have missed you too. In these passed two years it was torture not having a friend like you." "Then i have fantastic news. You are invited to my engagement party tonight. And you dont get to say no. Damian and i have been trying to reach you to as where we can send your invite, imagine my surprise when i get a text from you saying you are in town!" Yeah, i changed my number because Lisa kept sending threatening messages to me. I am so tired of hearing her constant moaning and demands to money. I owe them nothing and i dont want to be part of their problems." Im sorry, i meant to let you know i changed my number. Lisa has been blowing up my phone and i just wanted to be done with that part of my life. Whats the dresscode and where are we going?" Maya looked at me with pity "Just say the word and we'll sort out your stepmother. You owe them nothing. On that note the party is at Damian's family mansion. Theres going to be some high flyers tonight. I have a dress for you already. I have makeup artists and hairstylist coming over to help us get ready" "How did you know i would say yes?" i asked. " I was not going to take no for an answer. You have not been home in 2 years except for the visits to your mom im sure." Three hours later and we are ready to go to Maya and Damians engagement party. This will be my first time back at the mansion after that fateful day. *flashback* It was my 13th birthday and Maya and Damian arranged a surprise birthday party. Everybody was invited even Rick, my crush. I was never noticed at school and Maya made sure i looked exceptional in the hopes that Rick would notice me. I wore a blue dress, with my long brown hair curled and tied. Im not one for heavy makeup but we made an exception seeing as it was my birthday. Rick was the last to arrive to my party, and boy did he notice me. He danced with me and asked if he can talk to me in private. But once we were alone, he kissed me and then started to unzip my dress. I pushed him away, and ran to the door. He yelled after me, "is this not what you wanted? You dress like a S#*t and when i give you the attention you ask for you run away." I ran to the room where Maya showed me would be mine for the night and locked myself in. I was so ashamed i immediately went to scrub this feeling off me. And then cried myself to sleep. The next morning i was woken with a loud knock and Maya calling for me. Immediately after i opened the door she stormed in angry, and looked at me in anticipation. "Where did you dissappear to last night? One moment you and Rick was dancing and the next you guys disappeared. An hour later Rick showed up but you are missing. What happened?" I broke down crying and told Maya everything that happened. I have never seen Maya so angry." That son of a b! How dare he! He will regret messing with my best friend!" just then Damian rushed in," i heard yelling. Is everything alright? Serena, whats the matter, why are you crying?" "She is not ok and once im done with Rick he will not be ok either! He will be sorry for hurting Serena!" Maya yelled. Just then we all received notifications, according to the school news page, i threw myself at Rick, trying to seduce him and didnt take it well when he said no. They made me sound so horrible. At school the bullying was terrible, with them labeling me the local easy Wh**e. And the boys was terrible, all trying to have their way, it got so bad that i had to change schools. From there my life only got worse. *end of flashback* "Serena if this is too much i would understand if you did not stay long."Maya said with sadness." No im staying, im not going to let Rick mess with my friendship now. It has been 8 years. It is time i moved on. Besides i will not miss an important event like this for anything. "
