Nightmare

CHAPTER 19

I tightened my grip on the gun Keith gave me, I could feel the trembling of my hands but I didn't let him notice it. I slowly raised my hand holding the gun and then pointed it at the crowd in front of us.

I took a deep breath before pulling the trigger of the gun. Yes that's right Zayn, you need to be brave.

"Shoot them." Keith ordered me and then he started firing his gun one after another.

Instead of making an action, I felt as if I was stunned as I stared at Keith. I was not used to the sound of gunfire so I was even more nervous. Maybe the crash of my chest was even louder than the gunshot at this time.

I looked at the people in front of us and I was even more surprised because they didn't seem to be hit by a bullet and continued to approach us. I swallowed repeatedly and then fired my gun at them, but as expected it seemed as if none of them had any bullets hitting their bodies.

Immortals.

We continued to fire at them as we stepped back because they also continued to approach us. I'm so annoyed because we're just wasting bullets here but our opponents aren't dying, stupid.

"Throw a bomb on them," I turned to Keith as he spoke, he handed me a bomb.

"What ?! Why me?" I asked him angrily as he continued firing.

"Just do it, Zayn. You're too loud!" His disgusted complaint was the reason why I was forced to take the bomb in his hand.

I stared intently at the bomb in my hand. This is hell! I don't even know how to use this s**t. I close my eyes in great annoyance.

"Why the hell are you just staring at that? Just throw it now!" Keith's voice was already muffled when he said that so I quickly threw it in the direction of the people approaching us.

But I was even more confused when it didn't even explode, what the heck ?!

"Stupid," he said softly but I could hear him clearly.

I turned to him and then looked at him annoyingly. "What did you just call me?" I asked him in disgust.

He stopped firing then took two bombs from his pants pocket. I watched him pull out something on the bomb before throwing it at the opponents. I jumped in panic when it suddenly exploded and ignited a huge fire so I quickly raised my hand to block my face because it was so hot.

"Did you see that? You have to remove the safety pin first to make it explode. Now do it," he said then handed me the bomb he was holding.

I quickly removed the safety pin he said then we both threw the bomb in their direction. After this fire broke out we were even more surprised when we saw them still walking and just going through the big fire that blocked their path. Keith and I slowly backed away as we watched them walk toward us.

"They're literally demons, they're immortals. We can't handle them." I could almost hear the weight of the two of us breathing at this time. I didn't know that they were such a fierce opponent

"We have to run Zayn,"

"What? Wait ----" .

I couldn't continue what I was going to say because he suddenly pulled me to run. We are here to run again, we have no choice but to run. Tiresome, we have no escape anywhere we hide they can find and they will still find us.

We're just doing it over and over again, to run and hide. I don’t know when I will be able to return home. That's my mission, but it seems like it's hard to do. Especially now that we hadn't even left our first hiding place, they were already waiting for us. It's so hard.

I just let myself be pulled by Keith, I feel like I'm losing strength especially since I still have wounds on my body. I noticed his slight turn in a large tree then we hid there.

We chased our breath as we simultaneously slid our bodies into the tree.

"I don't know that they're immortals, this is literally hell." It was obvious in his voice that he was very breathless as he said that.

I turned to him and saw his head leaning against a tree while looking up. Only now did I notice the tip of his nose and his long eyelashes. He has this very beautiful features. I never thought that the person I was hesitant to trust, he would still be with me this time.

I thought about what we did before, I thought I would only see such a scene in the movie. I never thought I would experience that in real life. Well I can't really say that in real life, because this is just a dream, but I still I was able to experienced it.

"Zayn," I turned to Keith when he suddenly spoke again. He did not look at me and remained staring at the sky. "Don't you still trust me until now?" he asked.

"Why do you keep asking me that?" I asked him cautiously.

"Because I want to know." he answered.

"Why?" I asked again.

"So I don't think it's senseless that I was trying to protect you when you can't even trust me." After he said that, he then turned to me.

Our eyes met, I don’t know but I can see his sincerity at these times. I averted my eyes at him as I felt that thing 'awkward'.

I feel guilty, I didn't know he was serious when he said he would protect me.

I stopped thinking when I heard footsteps and whispers not far from the tree where we were hiding. I looked at Keith nervously and I was even more surprised when he was looking at me as if he was thinking of something.

"I know this isn't in our plan, but can you trust me now?" he said meaningfully.

"What are you planning to do Keith? Just don't think of a nonsense plan, because I'll be the one to kick your face." I threatened him.

"We have to separate ways ---"

"Hell no!" I stopped what he was going to say. "We will never do that Keith, never! We can do this together, why do we have to separate?" I asked him annoyingly.

I will never let this happen again. The last time I checked, this is also what Bree and I did and I didn’t like what happened to her. She put herself at risk, she died. And until this day I still blame myself for what happened.

"Zayn listen, I'll distract them. Just go save yourself."

"I said no! We're not going to separate Keith. No!" I cried begging him. I don't want to do this, I don't want anyone to sacrifice their lives for me. It's not fair.

"Chill okay? I won't let those kill me, I'll make sure this won't be the last time we meet. I'll assure you that. Just trust me Zayn."

I bit my lower lip to stop sobbing before I spoke again. "I'll wait for you, and when you don't come back and I wake up, I'll make sure I kick you when I see you in real life."

"I want to hear it Zayn." he said.

"Hear what?" I asked in confusion.

"That you trust me."

I wiped my tears on my cheeks then took a deep breath. "I trust you jerk, so keep what you said that this will not be the last time we'll meet."

"Thank you for the trust, I promise I'll be back." he said as he smiled at me. "When I count to three, just run and don't look back." he added.

My tears started to fall again when he started counting. Annoyingly, I couldn't do anything. Saving myself is a heartless decision I made while there are people willing to lay down their lives for me.

When he finished counting, we came out from hiding, together. We went out together but took different paths. I ran in the other direction and just kept running.

I could hear Keith shout as he distracted the opponents. I want to stop running and turn around. I wanted to see what had happened to him but I restrained myself.

If something bad happens to him, there is only one thing I can do to give justice. That is to wake up, to save him. To save everyone.

I stopped running when I felt so tired and weak. I bent both my hands on my knees, I closed my eyes and took a deep breath.

When I opened my eyes I could not move from where I was standing when I saw a shadow of the man now standing in front of me. I was still bent over and staring at that shadow, I hadn't completely seen the owner of that shadow but I already knew who he was.

The person who makes me nervous too much, the person who makes my heart beat fast with fear.

"Raze," I exclaimed as I continued to face him. His crazy smiles are still there, that jerk.

"I told you earlier that you can't run away from me Zayn." he said as he put his hands in the pocket of the jacket he was wearing. I couldn't help but look at his chest, it was so strange because his wound was no longer there when I hit him with an ax.

"You did escape, but we still met. Wht do you think about that? What a small world." he said sarcastically.

"Yeah right, in a very small world, your face is so suffocating." I want to be scared and nervous in front of him, but I feltl that the anger I feel when he is in front of me is more dominant.

"Why you so brave now ? What are you proud of? That doctor with you?" My blood heated up when he suddenly pointed at Keith. He's literally an evil. "Did you just separate ways? He's definitely dead now because ---"

I didn't let him finish what he was going to say when I suddenly shot him in the chest. "Don't you dare mentioned him, jerk!"

He smirked as if no bullet had hit his body. Immortal.

"You easily trust a stranger Zayn? You really are stupid huh? Didn't you think that he will betray you too?" He asked sarcastically while the smile I will never like was still drawn on his lips.

"He's not as traitor as you Raze," I grinned as I uttered those words. While I was thinking about his betrayal of me, I was still disgusted.

"You are really an i***t---"

I fired the gun I was holding at him again, and this time, in his forehead. Me, being a sharp shooter goes hand in hand with my anger because every time I shoot him, it will all hit him right in the forehead. I almost used up all the bullets on him because I was so angry until he suddenly fell to the ground.

"Get lost Raze," I exclaimed as I watched his body lying on the ground.

I know he is not dead yet, I know that soon he will rise again and look for me wherever I hide. But while he was still unconscious I hurriedly ran away from that place.

I stopped running again when I saw a familiar figure not far from where I was standing. My forehead furrowed as I watched him struggle to walk while holding his stomach with a large wound in it.

He also stopped walking when he looked at me. Our eyes met, I could see the shock registering in his eyes.

That familiar eyes.

That's what I don't understand.

How did this happen?
