3 JOCKO
Jocko ambled into town, looking for sins to steal.
On his path, he discovered a herd of dead cattle littered in the dry, yellow grass. From the smell of their death, he could tell they were poisoned. When Jocko knelt to examine the cattle further, all the flies abandoned their mission to feed off the dead, already overtaken by rigor mortis. Jocko closed his eyes and heard the confessions of five men who had ridden off to their ranch, and wallowed in their glory as they slept peacefully in their individual bunks. In the distance, Jocko could also hear the tears of the wife of the owner of the poisoned cattle. A few miles down, Jocko found the owner of the cattle. His body was riddled with bullets, his face frozen in a grim smile, as if he knew his fate beforehand.
