Chapter 23.

"I told my family about your pregnancy, I hope that was okay. My sister gave me a bunch of her kid's old baby clothes that she told me to give to you. I know there's a bunch of them, if you don't want them you can just give them back or throw them away. -Kennedy" "Oh my god..." Hannah mumbled as she rubbed her eyes. "He's so f*****g sweet..." "How'd he get into my room..?" I stuttered. There are two types of people in this world. The people who only care about the gesture of something and the people who think logically about the situation. For example. You see a cat dressed up in an outfit on i********:. Cute. But why would someone force their poor cat into that outfit? Hannah and I were great examples of such people who thought completely differently. Example number two. You find flowers in your mailbox from a secret admirer. How lovely. But how did that person know where you live? Do you have a stalker? "Brian probably let him in or something..." Hannah mumbled. That was a possibility. But Kennedy would've had to go see his family before getting the clothes and that meant he had been gone for thanksgiving and then come back. But Brian wasn't home. I rubbed my eyes. The clothes and the note had made everything a bit more real. I looked at my stomach. "You're so f*****g spoiled already and all you do is wiggle around..." I chuckled. "And auntie Hannah is gonna make sure you're the most spoiled baby in the state..." Hannah chuckled and bent down. "No, you're not..." "Yes, I am." "No. No, you're not." "What are you gonna do? Hit me with a diaper?" "Don't put ideas in my head..." I snickered. ⚥ ⚥ ⚥ Hannah and I were going through the baby clothes when the front door opened. I didn't mind it at first, figuring that it was just Brian. But there were two sets of footsteps. I immediately tensed up. Usually, I was fine with Brian having friends over but he hadn't brought anyone here since we found out o was pregnant. I didn't want them to see or think anything of it. "Brian!" Hannah exclaimed. "It's been so long!" She was practically yelling and I internally cringed. If she'd been quiet no one would've known we were here. She skipped out of the room, overly excited while I stayed frozen with a bear jumpsuit in my hand. "Hannah?" Brian chuckled. "It's good to see you!" "Yeah, you too!" She answered. I could hear that they were hugging. "I don't believe I've met this hottie..." "This is Jayden!" I froze, clenched onto the jumpsuit. Why was he here? Why was he here with Brian of all people? When did they become friends? "Oh..." Hannah snickered. "Jayden Marston? Is that right?" "That's my name, and you are?" He said. He sounded friendly but I could hear that he wasn't in the best mood. "Hannah, Micah's best friend!" "Oh... I thought he was staying with his parents another day. Is... is he here..?" I could hear the anxiety in his voice. "Nope! Just me!" She snickered. Hannah was a good liar, everything she said sounded convincing even if she didn't intend for it to do so. Hannah could claim that the moon was made of cheese and it would sound convincing even if you knew it wasn't true. That trait combined with her sarcasm was quite dangerous if you didn't know her very well. "So what're you doing in my apartment?" Brian chuckled. The trio was now walking toward the living room and I slowly backed up to my bed. If anyone looked in they'd see me right away, I was lucky that the door was shut. "Micah asked me to drop his bags off since I was driving back home, he didn't feel like bringing them on the bus," Hannah mumbled as she stretched and sat down on the couch. "Said he had too much to carry already, if you know what I mean..." She snickered. It was as if I could see her through the wall. She was on the couch, staring smugly at Jayden. I slid down under the covers of my bed, that way I wouldn't make any noise. "Hey, Hannah, you want a beer?" Brian called from the kitchen. "No, I'm driving! But I'll take a ginger ale if you have any..." "Non-alcoholic ginger beer okay?" "Micah still drinks those?" "He's had a bit of a ginger obsession lately..." Hannah laughed. "More like all his life..." I sighed. I was trapped in my own room while my best friend, my roommate and my baby daddy were talking over a drink in the other room. I was thankful that Hannah didn't tell them that I was here, that would've been awkward and tense for all us, not just for me and Jayden. But I felt somewhat betrayed. Hannah left me alone to hang out with my friends if Jayden even was my friend and not just an unwilling acquaintance. The covers weight down on me where I laid on the bed, it was comfortable, but not as comfortable as it could've been. "So you're the guy who knocked up my bestie?" Hannah said somewhat smugly. She really couldn't be left alone for two minutes. "Uh... well... not on purpose... Jayden awkwardly stuttered. "So about that call earlier..." Hannah mumbled. "Oh... you heard that?" Jayden sighed. "You must think I'm an asshole now, huh?" "Nah... I get where you're coming from." She said as she cracked open a can. A part of me wanted to listen to what she had to say, another part wanted to slap her for leaving me in my room and telling them that I wasn't home. But I also wanted to join their conversation. "Micah's is a stubborn son of a bitch... he's always been like that. He's really short-tempered and an emotional wreck. He can get pretty defensive and he rarely admits what he's actually feeling..." "Yeah..." Brian chuckled. Apparently, they were both traitors. "Micah's always been really independent. He doesn't like to rely on people and it scares him when he gets too attached to someone... He doesn't like to be seen as frail or incapable... If you worry about him too much he's gonna get upset, it's just what he's like." "Of course I'm gonna worry about him though..." Jayden sighed. "He's pregnant... he's a pregnant guy. That just doesn't happen... and he's not a pregnant trans guy, he's a guy who was born a guy and now there's a baby inside him... a baby that I'm the father to.... what if something happens, what if something goes wrong? How is everyone so chill about it?" "I get that you're worried," Hannah said gently. While I appreciated her for calming him, I hated that they were talking about me. "Doctors have monitored him since he was a teen. Every inch of his body has been looked at by doctors. There's nothing wrong with him whatever. He's just got an extra organ that works like any other... its entrance is just a few millimetres from where it would usually be... some people are born with two uteruses, Micah was born with one up his-" "Okay, Hannah..." Brian nervously interrupted. "Thank you for... that." Had my life been a sitcom, there would be prerecorded laughs playing in the background to tell that audience that the situation was awkward. I could hear those laughs in my head, echoing and taunting me. "I just never thought I'd have kids..." Jayden mumbled. "But in a few months I'll be a dad, Micah and I are gonna have a baby together and I wanna be there for them every step of the way. I don't want my kid to know what it's like to only have one parent... I don't wanna be like my dad..."
