True to form, Liam didn't mention the early c-section again for the next week but instead took more and more care of her.
Olivia was no more than an ordinary woman, and all she wanted was nothing more than an intact family, so she almost really believed that Liam had turned around and recognized that they were really a family.
However, the ugly truth comes so unexpectedly.
In the evening, as usual, Liam was in the bathroom taking a shower while Olivia drank the milk he had warmed up ahead of time and prepared to go to sleep; for the past couple of days, she had had to rely on milk to sleep.
Olivia reached out to take the glass of milk from the table when, out of the cold, Liam's cell phone lit up.
In the past, she wouldn't have cared; after all, she'd always trusted Liam, yet today, ghostly, she glanced at the text message she'd received on her screen and, as a result, broke out in a cold sweat as she read it.
"Sir, everything is ready. All you have to do today is put sleeping pills in your wife's glass of milk for her to drink, and I assure you, the cord blood will be available within half an hour."
If she hadn't been propped up on the table, Olivia would have been afraid that her legs would have gone weak, and she would have collapsed right on the floor at this moment.
Liam goes so far as to drug her out with sleeping pills and then remove the baby by C-section to obtain cord blood!
Was she too dumb, or was she too stupid to actually believe that Liam cared about her and the baby in her belly?
It was as if her heart was being seared by a fire, and the pain seared away her true feelings for him.
She loved him so much, and he ended up counting on her.
The sudden sound of the bathroom door opening behind her made Olivia's back stiffen, and her whole body shudder.
"Olivia, why aren't you resting?"
Liam toweled his hair as he made his way over toward Olivia, his eyes landing on the full glass of milk, his feet lurching, and his gaze darkening as his eyes sharpened.
"Why haven't you drunk the milk yet? Drink it quickly so you can rest early."
So that you can rest early? I'm afraid I'll have to take out the baby in her belly sooner.
Olivia listened to Liam's gentle words and just felt her heart cut out.
Is this man really the man who said he would love and protect her for the rest of her life?
How could he be so desperate?
Olivia was so scared that she wanted to run and escape, her face as white as snow, but the villa was full of Liam's people inside and out, so she couldn't escape at all.
As she watched Liam walk over to her and personally pick up the glass of milk and hand it to her, Olivia nearly screamed in fear, and she was almost ready to confess in desperation, just when a servant's knock sounded outside the bedroom.
"Sir, James is visiting; he says he has something he wants to discuss with you."
Liam's brow furrowed slightly, the annoyance of a lost cause in his eyes, and Olivia watched as her heart felt as if it were dripping blood. Was he that desperate? Did he want her baby's life so badly?
Olivia made the decision that she had to get out of his side, and right now, it was her chance!
"Liam, is that James? I haven't seen him in a while either. I heard he was back in the country, and we're old friends, so I'd like to talk to him, too." Olivia said hurriedly, a hint of nervousness in her tone.
Liam's deep eyes stared at Olivia, seemingly pondering something, such a warm but cold gaze that Olivia's heart tingled.
Just when she was wondering if she was showing her hand, Liam spoke up, "Okay, let's go meet James first. The milk is cold, so I'll have the babysitter heat it up."
Olivia heaved a sigh of relief.
She followed Liam down the stairs with a heavy heart, her eyes raised to consider the various exits from the villa, and when she glanced up inadvertently, she slammed into a pair of warm, dark pupils.
If Liam is a block of cold ice, then James is a clear spring; anyone who has made the acquaintance of James, without exception, will be attracted by his gentle temperament and humble manners, his looks feminine and handsome, compared with Liam, more slightly better.
James had obviously seen her as well, the corners of his lips lifting slightly as he greeted, "It's been a long time, Olivia; congratulations on your impending motherhood."
