Chapter 5: Successful Escape

Olivia ticked the corners of her mouth and nodded with a forced smile; right now, she just couldn't bring herself to genuinely laugh. Liam stepped forward and gave James a hug, followed by a fist to his chest, "Good friend, you've been gone for a year; you didn't even make it to my wedding; come back this time, have your gifts ready." James nodded, his voice as pleasant as a piano, "It's also my regret that I wasn't able to attend your wedding, Liam. Olivia, congratulations on becoming husband and wife." Couple? Olivia smiled bitterly at the word; how ironic those three words were in the face of the brutal truth. "Well, all sit down and talk, Sophia; get James some tea, and as for Olivia, warm up the milk you just gave your wife," Liam ordered and sat down while Olivia's hands and feet went instantly cold, and her head exploded. Milk! With that glass of milk laced with sleeping pills, Liam really can't wait a moment to drug her in front of James, afraid that even if she faints, she'll fool her with the fact that pregnant women are drowsy during pregnancy. Olivia couldn't hold it together any longer; not a trace of a smile on her face, only panic and awe; she spoke eagerly, "Liam, I'm going to the restroom; you guys talk first." After saying that, she turned around and left. With little hesitation, she climbed up to the bathroom window, which was located off to the rear of the cottage and had a somewhat high sill. Olivia took a deep breath, clutched her stomach, and then jumped with her eyes closed. Olivia let out a small "ah" as her foot hit the ground, then immediately covered her mouth, but the nanny, who was standing in the doorway waiting, heard her. Olivia heard her nanny's voice questioning her, and right after that, she heard Liam's voice, "Olivia, what's wrong with you? What happened? Olivia!" Olivia's face was in a cold sweat; what to do? Liam had found her; she had to escape; the front door and the back door were now out of bounds, and she had to hide. Olivia looked around and then saw a white Bentley; fortunately, the door was left open, and she hurriedly got in. At the same time, all the lights in the backyard were turned on in a flash. She cowered tightly in the backseat, her body trembling as she prayed uncontrollably that Liam wouldn't find her. Suddenly, she heard footsteps coming toward the car, and Olivia held her breath in fear, her eyes staring straight at the door. The moment the car door opened, she almost fainted. Well, the person who opened it was James. She saw the incredulity in James' eyes, and Olivia couldn't care less at the moment, practically on her knees, hands clasped together, looking at James with tears in her eyes, praying silently that he wouldn't tell Liam. Liam's urgent voice came from the distance, "James, did you find Olivia?" Olivia's heart was almost in her throat as she shook her head vigorously at James; she couldn't, she couldn't tell Liam. James only lost his composure for a moment, and then, as he closed the car door, his tone remained calm, and all Olivia heard him say was, "No. Have you looked in the flower garden over there?" She then dared to relax a little. Right now, the only way she could get out of here was to rely on James. Olivia's nerves stayed tense, keeping a close eye out for anyone coming this way, and after an unknown amount of time, she saw James walk over, and Olivia knew that she could finally get out. James opened the car door and looked at the huddled Olivia with a complicated expression before driving her away from the villa without a word. The moment she exited the front door, Olivia felt as if she'd been reborn, finally breaking free from a cage full of lies that Liam had compiled.
