Olivia leaned her head against the edge of the car window and watched the roadside landscape recede step by step, thinking back to the past when Liam had been with her, biting her lip dead center as a pang of pain shot through her heart.
"Now, will you tell me why?"
James's moist voice suddenly came from the quiet compartment, and Olivia froze at the sound of it, then shook her head.
James had only met her a few times, and since he and Liam had grown up together as brothers if she had told the truth, James would have sent her back sooner or later.
Her husband plotted against her like that, let alone an outsider.
Right now, she doesn't trust anyone but the baby in her belly.
"Thank you, James. Just drop me off at the front intersection; I'll be fine on my own after that."
She had to go back and take her father and brother; they were her weakness, and she was afraid Liam would hold them against her.
James, however, ignored it and continued to drive forward with no intention of stopping.
"James!" Olivia was in a hurry, and the longer it dragged on, the better chance Liam had of finding her.
"Olivia!" The car braked hard and fast, dragging a long tail on the quiet road, "Do you think I can just pretend nothing happened! Olivia, Liam is your husband; you're so afraid of him; what the hell did he do to you!"
What had Liam done to her? Olivia's heart wailed and cut; Liam wanted her life, her child's life.
With that thought, Olivia's eyes couldn't help but redden again, and she wiped the tears that were about to break out of her eyes, took a deep breath, and was just about to force her way out of the car when suddenly, the car was surrounded by four black motorhomes to the left, right, and front, and had their headlights turned on in unison, piercing the eyeballs.
Olivia looked up, and her heart sank.
How ungrateful to God was her fate to be toyed with in such a way?
Liam stepped out of the RV, his face still cold, and calmly opened the back seat, whispering softly to Olivia, "Olivia, it's time to get tired after being out so long; let's go home."
It was as if he didn't see Olivia's straight, shaking body and miserable face.
Olivia was just about to say no when, out of the corner of her eye, she skimmed over another woman coming down from the RV, a woman of slender height and distinguished demeanor in a little perfumed dress that set off the whole thing with nobility and elegance.
In contrast to her, Olivia could be described as rather woefully unkempt and pudgy.
Even if Olivia was stupid enough to see this woman right now, it was clear that she was the "Emma," the one Liam held close to his heart.
Baby, I'm sorry. I'm afraid mother can't protect you.
The woman called "Emma" took a step towards Olivia.
Olivia waited for her to approach, for her to raise the flag of her Mistress, and for her to strut her stuff against her, the original.
However, what she didn't expect was for the woman to bend her knees and kneel down at her.
"Olivia, I'm begging you, will you save my baby?"
"My son, he's almost two years old, but he's been in ICU all these years, and he's been in a coma for six whole months, and I haven't heard his voice in six months."
"I'm begging you, I'll give you whatever money you want, even if it's all of it; I'm just begging you, save my baby, okay?"
The woman crawled towards Olivia, her pale knees crawling on the tarmac, soon seeing red marks.
As soon as Liam saw her like this, he was even more distressed and reached out to pull her.
The woman, naturally, wouldn't, wouldn't get up, looked straight at Olivia, "Olivia, I don't want anything; I'm not fighting for Liam's wife's position; all I'm asking is for you to save my baby."
Olivia watched coldly, not saying a word.
"No, I don't save."
