Chapter 10: The Dance

I was running toward the thief before he was turning right. I clicked my tongue again before I was turning right as well. I have to get to him or I might be losing him. When I thought I was ahead of him, he was not in sight. “Damn it,” I cursed before I heard someone was chuckling behind me. “You know, it was not cute when you were cursing especially when you’re a beautiful woman,” he said as he was leaning against the tree. I scoffed again before I was moving in circles. He did as well, trying to put some distance between us. “And why would I care what you think? You’re not the person that I will be marrying after all,” I said confidently before he chuckled. “Are you sure about that, Signorina? I would not be boasting if I will end up with a thief,” he said as he was looking at me, smirking. “I am not a THIEF! I was just returning the stuff that the museum took from the black market and returned to their owners,” “And that owner is you? How charming,” “You know nothing about me so you don’t get to judge me, thief,” “I told you, you can call me Hermes. After all, you asked for my name but when I gave it to you, you don’t want to call me by that name,” he said as I laughed humourlessly. “Well, you are not worthy to be mentioned by me,” I said before he was arching his eyebrow. I think that’s what he was doing. “Is that so?” “Yes and if you excuse me, I will take that gemstone from you now,” I said as I was moving toward him. He was looking at me as if I was not attacking him. I will show him. “Don’t be careless, cara,” he said as he was moving out of my way and I hit the tree. It hurt like the devil. “I am not your cara,” “Well, what do you prefer to be called? Cara mia? Tesoro? Or maybe something sweet perhaps mi amore?” “Stop it, you are not my husband,” I said as I was gritting my teeth. Hermes smirked at me. “We’ll see,” he said as I was coming at him again and again. He blocked my advances as I was trying to push him and get the gemstone inside his clothes. But that would be s****l harassment. Eh, like we were normal strangers. But we’re not so it’s okay. “Oh, feisty. You know, you can just ask if you want to sleep with me. But of course, you have to reveal yourself as well,” he whispered to my ear before I was slipping away from his touches. It burned me. “And you would be known by me, ever think of that?” I asked him as he was smirking at me before his hand was holding the gemstone. The Crown Jewel of Sicily. “Now, how do you know the gemstone was in the castle of Caprioli? I was the only one that knows that” I said as I was slipping my info to the thief. Hermes smirked before he was putting away the gemstone. Damn it! “Ah, I see that you are involved with the Caprioli clan. What an interesting insight that you get from them,” he said as I was gritting my teeth. “I am not involved with them. I just…happened to know them, that’s all,” I said before I was looking at him. Hermes arched his eyebrow before I was narrowing my eyes at him. “And how do you know if the real Crown Jewel of Sicily was there? Are you involved with them as well? But all I know is that they are brothers, no sister. So, the real question, how do you get the information?’’ I asked him before Hermes was smirking at me. “Oh, you know nothing about me,” “But I do know your s****l orientation,” “You’re wrong,” “Am I?” I was taunting the thief as I was stepping closer to him. He was angry, I can see that and I will use that to my advantage. I think I have found a way to get under his skin. “You know it was there because you were involved with one of the brothers. The question now is which one? Zeus just got married and that crossed out. But there’s Harriet, Ryes, Percy, Niles, and Loxias. If I have to guess, it would be—“ I did not finish my sentence when Hermes was on top of me. I was gasping for air as I did not see him coming at me. What the heck! “I told you, it was not like that,” he growled at me before I was glaring at him. “Then tell me!” “I can’t,” “You can’t or you won’t? There’s a difference between those two, Hermes,” I hissed at him before the thief was blinking at me. I just realized what I did and I was calling him by his name. “Say that again,” he whispered before I flustered. “What?” “My name, say it again. I want to hear you say it,” he said as he was coming closer and closer to me. My heart was beating wildly before I was looking into his mask. Now I can see his eye color. It was magnetic like something that I was drawn to in the first place. “Jenny,” he said before he was dipping his head and he was claiming my lips. I was shocked but it felt so good that I was letting him kiss me. I was gripping the grass before my hands were finding their ways to the back of his nape and pulled him closer. I moaned before I was letting him kissing my neck and jaws. I don’t know why I was letting this man kiss me as I belong to him. This was not right but I don’t dare to stop him. “Say my name,” “What?” “Say ‘Hermes’ or I will not kiss you anymore,” he said as he was getting up. I was gripping his neck as a response to what I cannot say through my mouth. Hermes was arching his eyebrow at me before I was gulping and shoving my pride down. “Hermes,” I whispered huskily before he was smirking at me. “Yes, mi amore?” “Kiss me,” I said as I was looking at him. I don’t know why I was letting this man kiss me but something about this man was making me feel safe, secure. “With pleasure,” he said as he was kissing me and I was snaking my hands around before I was realizing that he was calling me by the real name. What the devil?!
