The night sky stretched into more expanse and a hoarse thunder struck in the thick clouds. It was raining heavily. Past midnight. But they had to do it tonight. They carefully lowered themselves from the roof enduring the night rain yet avoiding being caught. Three thieves, all black with a sole purpose tonight, and in a mere matter of seconds, they got to their destination. They broke into the safe room of the Ace jewellers company at midnight,to steal the Blaine diamond that was placed on a acrylic glass stool at the Apex of the room,over guarded with lasers. It was the most magnificent and expensive piece of jewelry in the world currently and it was yet to be revealed to the world. But apparently the Blaine diamond had come into knowledge of some rivals of the company and now,many sought it. Ken had just sneaked in through the window,after their leader for the mission,Rocky and unconsciously slammed the window pane, after him leaving Caleb out and afterwards, his phone vibrated in his pants. Seeing Caleb's name flashing across the screen made him glance back at the window to see a pissed off Caleb glaring at him with his phone screen illuminating his face and his whole body utterly drenched with the rain. Ken had to open up the window again to let an angry Caleb in. "Bro what the f..." Caleb was about to banter before Ken interrupted, "shssssh" and placed his right palm over Caleb's lips. Caleb slapped his palm away. "Oh now I get to just shut up...you literally slammed the window in my face" he countered. "Okay damn..fucking shut up...that is not important" Ken spat,obviously pissed off as he flicked on the Torchlight in his hold and scanned the darkroom cautiously. A steel moment of silence passed between them as Caleb glared at Ken who was busy surveying the room for bugs and activated cameras. "I could have caught a cold out there,or fallen down from this damn tall building to the ground or worst,I could have been caught" Caleb continued again as he cautiously followed Ken behind into the room. The heavy rain continued its downpour, with the relentless thunder in the cloud swallowing their whispering volumes as they indulged in a bit of banter. Ken made a hiss sound as he stopped moving and turned his head to look into Caleb's eyes, "do you really wanna make this a topic right now...in the middle of a f*****g mission?" He turned to Caleb. "A simple apology could have fixed it" Caleb deadpanned as he raised his face mask to his forehead and took a step towards Ken. Ken sighed,pinching the bridge of his nose,he muttered "don't make this awkward right now..." "Can you both just stop with the bickering....and come over here,and give me a hand. We ain't playing here.." Rocky finally cut in,pausing in his ransacking of the duffel bag and glaring at them. Caleb and Ken exchanged another heated glare,before Caleb purposely brushed Ken's shoulder as he walked past him to Rocky. Ken followed behind. They soon dropped to their haunches in front of the duffel bag and joined Rocky in setting up the device that could help them c***k the code for the glass and unlock the glass so that they could steal the diamond away. Ken glanced at the lasers surrounding the area of the diamond and back to his team, "what about the lasers?" "Gael said he'd take care of it." Rocky responded with all his attention focused on fixing the gadget and with a final twist on the device,he added while glancing at their faces "he also said the cameras would be turned off" and with that he stood up and they all stood straight with him too. "Can we trust him to help us....I mean he is an insider and he works for Ace" Caleb asked from behind Rocky. Rocky sighed and was about to give a response " Boss said to...",when the lasers were suddenly deactivated and at the same time,the door to the room was quietly opened. Panic settled in their chests as they took in the silhouette of the person coming their way. The room was dark with the only light illuminating the place from the lamp above the Blaine diamond. "Turn on your torch Ken.. check who it is" Caleb said,his hand already over his holster. "No need for that" said the voice from the silhoutte and the rolling of his head was quite noticeable as he stood in the shadows. He slowly stepped into the light and the trio all gasped in relief. "Gael..." Rocky said as he took him in. Dressed up in an expensive slack with a vest over his half buttoned white Shirt,a silver curb chain peeking out from within and his hands buried in the pockets of his slacks,he returned their acknowledgement with a smirk. "I see you all got in safely...I've taken care of everything...the lasers.." he glanced at the diamond and back to them "and the cameras..leave through the window as you came in" and with that,he turned to leave. "Gael.." Ken called and he stopped in his track. "Why are you helping us?...Sorry to pry but you're close with Ace" Gael chuckled,a short chuckle before he looked at them over his shoulder and back to the door. "As I said to your boss...I have nothing to gain from helping Ace protect the diamond and I have a duty to your boss...he saved my life" he concluded. "And yes.." he added. "If any of you get caught..don't you dare break the code of silence" he warned maliciously. "We know" Caleb snorted, earning him a slap by the side from Rocky. With a last acknowledging nod, he turned to leave walk away from them. Once the door was shut from outside,Gael picked up his phone to make a call. The receiver at the other end picked up and Gael placed the phone over his ear and spoke, "Cancel the help...turn the cameras back on..there's a major robbery going on." Loyalty and Gael had never gone hand in hand, be it to any of his masters. Besides, he would be on the losing team if the thieves take the diamond away. So this fueled his action. "On it" The receiver responded and the line went off. The receiver,David, who worked closely with Gael scurried to the control room and found the control room manager passed out on his seat,due to the coffee laced with sedative that he had taken,and the camera to the Apex room where the robbery was going on was turned off. David reactivated the lasers once more and turned the cameras back on,then he spoke into the megaphone, "Alert,major robbery ongoing in the Apex room,officers recruit to the area and take charge..I repeat take charge". He turned the theft alarm on. The loud blaring of the alarm started resounding throughout the whole building,and a couple of officers scurried down the hallway from all directions to the Apex room. Some officers busted into the Control room and seeing David bent over the table watching the scene on Camera,they approached him. "Don't worry sir..our men are on it" and with that David turned to them. "Good" and his eyes slowly travelled to the control manager passed out on his seat and with a look of disgust,he motioned the officers to the man "Take care of him..." and he found his way out. Back at the Apex room,Rocky was still cracking the code when the lasers came back on. Ken's eyes immediately took it in. Caleb was helping Rocky handle the device. "Guys...we need to get out of here" he eyed the lasers. "Hold on Ken...almost there" Rocky said,still so engrossed in his cracking. "There's trouble guys...we have to.." Ken was cut off by Caleb, "Ken could you just stop fearing like a kid..Gael got us cov...." and then the alarms started blaring and sounds of footsteps approaching the room were now very loud. "Shit.." Rocky cursed packing up. "Wait...what about the diamond" Caleb asked,as Rocky and Ken made for a run. They had already cracked the code. "Ditch the diamond...we need to leave now" Ken said,putting on his belay device and getting ready to rappel up the building. Caleb was hesitant,so he started struggling to uproot the diamond from it's base. Rocky flung open the window and the cold air hit them hard and the rain started splashing into the room. "Come on guys....let's leave" he said amidst the lightening and thunder,as he started rappelling upwards. Ken followed and just as Ken was about to move up,his eye caught Caleb struggling with the diamond. "Come on...Caleb..let's leave" "Boss will kill us" Caleb shouted back and just then he succeeded in uprooting the diamond. Another safety alarm went off because the diamond had been stolen. Ken rappelled up immediately leaving Caleb behind and gunshots were heard outside the building as the officers outside tried to capture him but he escaped. Caleb tried to make a run for it and just then an army of officers burst into the room and aimed their guns at Caleb,who was caught with the diamond in his hold. "Freeze."
