Alexandro's pov
I was really not looking forward to going to work today. I mean, I had to hire someone I knew I would hate working with. Do not get me wrong; I have worked with people I disliked, but they have never spoken to me in the same way that Ms. Keira did.
Actually, Grandma Evelyn is the only person who has ever spoken to me rudely and nonchalantly, but there's even a limit to that. Her fierceness has not diminished with age. My mother was the same way, though she is now late.
I forced myself out of bed, showered, and then carefully selected my outfit; a sharp charcoal gray suit, a crisp white shirt, and a burgundy tie for a dapper touch. Putting on my black oxford shoes and gold watch, which matched the rest of my outfit, finished the look.
With everything in place, I headed downstairs to have breakfast. I spent the night at our family's mansion, where I would often go to see my silly sister and Grandma Evelyn.
As I was having my breakfast, I scurried out the moment I saw Grandma Evelyn coming down the stairs. The last thing I wanted was for her to start giving me marriage lectures. I am only 30 years old, so what’s the rush? She had already spoken to me extensively yesterday, and I did not want her to pick up where she left off last night.
My arrival at TitanTech Solution Company took me approximately thirty minutes. I was happy with what I had accomplished. Yes, I did not start the business from the ground up, but I did boost the profits and brought in new clients.
So yeah, I was still proud. Being the only son in the Cruz family, I had to take over my father's business when he moved to Russia to manage his other ventures. I also owned several businesses across the country that were exclusively mine.
"Morning, Mr. Cruz," the doorman said, to which I responded with a slight nod before walking into the building.
As I was walking toward the elevator, my attention was drawn to my new assistant. She seemed to be having a disagreement with Rowan, and I knew I had to intervene.
I approached them where they were standing. “Good morning Mr Cruz.” Rowan greeted me, but I turned away from his greeting and approached the receptionist, holding Ms. Kiera's hands in mine.
"Good morning, Mr. Cruz." The receptionist greeted me.
“ Morning”. This is Miss Keira, and she will be my new assistant, so remember the face and Miss Keira, and shall we proceed?" I can not believe I was going to do this.
Before she could say anything, I wrapped my arm around her waist and drew her toward the elevator. At the very least, I knew this was going to work because I knew Rowan was watching us, and he would not dare mess with Ms. Kiera if he suspected I was involved with her in any way.
Fortunately, no one was present when we entered the elevator, so I removed my arm immediately. But the moment the door shut, she erupted.
"What in the hell is that for? Why would you wrap your arm around my waist? I apologized for my mistake yesterday, and you called me back. If this is why you asked me to come back, I'm sorry, but you’ve got the wrong girl. What the devil issue do you have?” Man, this girl can shout loudly.
"First and foremost, Ms. Kiera, do not ever speak to me in that tone again. Secondly, do not ever raise your voice with me. Lastly, I have no interest in you whatsoever.” I spoke in a vehement tone.
“Then why did y..”
“Furthermore, refrain from ever interrupting me when I speak. The only reason why I intervened back there was because I knew Rowan was merely making small talk with you. He has a reputation around here for f*****g all the women and then ditching them, and I do not want any office drama." I explained my reason.
I have had many employees quit because of him, but he does good work, and I can not bring myself to fire him. And besides, it is their personal issue, so why should I interfere? But this situation involved my personal assistant, and I do not need to keep replacing them.
"You should be thanking me in two ways right now. If I had not used my private elevator today, you have no idea how much trouble you would have had to deal with.”
“Okay well, thank you, Mr Cruz”. Finally this crazy woman comes to her senses. But for all that yelling, only thank you? No.
"Just a thank you? I mean like a lot of trouble, like a wh-ole lot of trouble." I added, stressing my words.
"Alright, I get it. Thank you. You are amazing, and I apologize for yelling at you.”
"Well, the truth is finally out. Do not worry, Ms kiera, you are not the first woman to tell me how amazing I am. Especially not in an elevator." I leaned in to whisper the last part of that to her.
The moment I said those last words, she snapped her head to look at me and her eyes wide open. Just in time, the elevator door clicked, and I walked out grinning, leaving her staring at me.
I thought she said I had the wrong girl. We will see about that, and I will make her retract every bad word she ever said to me. I thought to myself as I made my way into my office.
Kiera’s pov
I can't believe he said that!!!
But you know what, he isn't all that bad, so he cares about his employees. Honestly, he did me a huge favor by saving me back there, because I did not want to draw attention to myself or go through drama before I even started working.
However, isn't it a little excessive for him to wrap his hands around my waist? And I could also feel the negative looks I was getting from ladies, especially the receptionist.
After a brief ten seconds of shock standing in the elevator, I quickly recovered and stepped out. I found Mr. Ethan and Mr. Cruz was talking, so I waited for them to finish, but Mr. Cruz noticed that I was standing, and he gestured to Ethan, who then approached me.
“Good morning Mr. Ethan”, I greeted him.
“Good morning Ms. Kiera, you have no idea how glad I am that I could convince Mr. Cruz to hire you rather than those wannabes”. He said as he grinned.
“Well, thank you so much for your help, and I'm really sorry about yesterday. I really wanted this job since it's my first job and I wanted to start in the right place.” I said with a huge smile on my face.
"Well, Ms. Kiera, you got it there, and please feel free to call me Ethan," he said, smiling back. "Mr. Ethan makes me feel older than I actually am.”
"Okay, as long as you also address me as Kiera."
“It is done. Alright, Kiera, let us get to work.” Firstly, we must prepare the meeting room as Mr. Alexandro has a scheduled meeting in approximately thirty minutes. So, please make fifteen copies of this packet."
He said this while handing me the packet. "And if you proceed to that room, gesturing down the corridor. There is a small pantry here, so take fifteen of everything off the shelves and arrange them in the conference room on this floor, which is also down the hallway.
And that should only take ten to twenty minutes, so tell me when you are done, and I will make sure everything is correct."
"Okay," was all I could say after all his explanations before I began to get things done.
I was determined to show my skills, even though I was expelled from school and my results held back due to exam malpractice accusations.
As I made my way down the hallway, papers in my hand, I turned a corner, my eyes taking in the sight of office life. But then something grasped my attention. A door, slightly opened with a red dimmed light coming from inside. And a nameplate that read, "Authorized personnel only.”
My curiosity piqued, which made me slow down, my eyes still fixed on the door. What could be behind it? I felt a shiver run down my spine, as I wondered if I should investigate further.
I decided to take a small step, just then I heard a faint whisper. “Don't go in there.”
