Chapter 2: Have we met before?

1362 Words
Alexandro’s Pov My head was hurting when I woke up. I had just returned to New York yesterday after closing a deal in Japan, and now I have to report to work early due to a ridiculous interview. How could Ethan, who is so incredibly stupid sometimes, arrange an interview for today when he knew I would be exhausted? I guess that's why I need a competent assistant. With that, I got out of bed and into the shower. The sensation of water running through my head was both pleasant and relaxing. I wish I could spend all day in the shower, but I’ve got work to do. I actually enjoyed working, so it was not a problem for me. As CEO of a multibillion-dollar corporation, I may appear to be a workaholic, but I enjoy being in the office because it is peaceful, like a safe haven, and allows me to do what I do best. But I must admit most of the time, or sometimes, it can be stressful. I walked out of the bathroom after draping a towel around my waist. And in no time, I was ready to leave. I couldn't even wait to have my coffee because I was already running late. I know no one would question me, but I have my policies, and I stick to them. When I got downstairs, Ethan Stone, my right-hand man, was already waiting for me in my car, so I got in, and we headed to the office. Ethan’s father used to work for my father before he passed away, and my father chose to take Ethan in because of his age at the time. Even though Ethan works for me now, I still think of him as a brother. ***** All I have seen all day is nothing but unqualified girls dressed in skimpy clothes. Trying to seduce me with looks, I mean, they were hot, but my heart belonged to one, and even if she had disappeared since our last encounter, I would remain faithful to her. The amusing part is that they all assumed they could get the job by flirting with me. Even though the day had been long and non-productive, I enjoyed watching all of these women flirt their way into getting the job. It was 12:15 p.m. now, and I was still in the office conducting interviews for my assistant position. Thankfully, there was only one person left for the interview. I feel so relieved. As soon as the last girl entered, I had to admit that I was impressed with how things were going thus far, even though she had not said anything. Her attire differs from that of the other women who entered earlier. She was dressed in a royal blue top and a black pencil skirt. Hmmm, I’m impressed. She was tall and had the perfect body that would make any man go crazy, but yeah, whatever. I could tell she was nervous as Ethan began to interview her; she kept stealing glances at me, or had we met before? In all honesty, she sounded incredibly familiar, but I am unable to identify the context of our acquaintance. Uh, maybe I just intimidated her. Pulling her legs wouldn't be such a bad idea, I thought. "Ms Kiera, I would like to know what you think of me." I needed to know what she thought of me, not because I cared, but because I needed someone who would not sugarcoat things for me to understand. Kiera’s pov Does the interview even include a question like this one? He has been feeling cocky ever since I walked in. Thank goodness I was well-prepared for the interview because it was quite difficult to answer the questions the other guy asked. Just when I thought I was finally done, he unexpectedly asked me what I thought of him. His mannerisms made me think of my awful ex-boyfriend, Maxwell. So if he wants a piece of my opinion, here goes nothing. "To be honest, sir, I think you are incredibly conceited and act like a playboy who thinks he can get anything he wants at any time and treats women like trash." “You are nothing more than a liar and a cheat, you freaking low life. After everything we’ve been through. This is how you pay me back? I yelled, with my hands slamming on the table in front of me. The realization of my actions suddenly came from the looks and silence I received. Ethan's expression was one of complete shock when I turned to face him. My eyes found Mr. Alexandro again, and this time I saw the fire in his eyes and his mouth hanging open. It seems that I have not completely moved past the horrible things those people did to me. That's right, I’ve messed everything up. Alexandro’s pov The words that came out of her mouth shocked me so much that I erupted, sending my chair smashing into the glass wall behind me. “Have we ever met before? I’m sorry, do I know you? How dare you speak to me in this manner? Do you fuc**ng know who I am? You’ve got some nerves coming in here to apply for the position of my assistant, and you dare say that to me. I will f..” “Um, I am.m.so sorry sir.” Before I could finish the words that were flying out of my mouth, she interrupted me. "I didn't mean to say any of those things to you, sir. I sincerely apologize once again.” Having said that, she scurried to her feet, with her eyes watering, and out of the room she went. Although it appeared as though she was experiencing a panic attack, I couldn't care less. Speaking to me in that manner, this girl had a lot of nerve. No one in their right mind has ever spoken to me in this manner, and I will not tolerate it. I will make her pay dearly for the attitude she just demonstrated. I threatened, fury coursing through my body. “She probably did not mean any of that, perhaps she just got cold feet. Mr. Cruz, so I think you should calm down.” Did Ethan just try to stand up for that crazy woman? “Cold feet?” Giving him the death stare and asking, "Which side are you on, huh?" After all these years together, how could he just choose the side of some random girl? "I know she went too far, sir, but she is the only qualified candidate we have found so far. She is young and intelligent, and most importantly, she has self-respect, unlike those other girls who showed up dressed like sluts. But that is fine; we can always hold more interviews.” Ethan was trying to play smart with me, but I wasn't bulging, and I am sure he found her outburst amusing. "We can conduct more interviews," I simply stated. "But we don't have the luxury of time. You will be traveling more often now, and I can not always accompany you, so you do need someone urgently." He got me there. Sometimes when I travel, I have to leave him behind to take care of business. “ Fine, give her a call.” I reluctantly gave in, I am going to despise working now. How was I expected to work with someone like her? “Anyway, Ethan, do you have any leads on the girl I told you to find?” "No, sir. Not yet. Finding someone without physical knowledge of the person is quite difficult. “Well, keep at it. I need results, not excuses.” “Of course, sir. By the way, did you ever find out why she turned down your offer? "It is none of your business, Ethan." Just locate her with the necklace. It is extremely rare; I am not sure why you are having trouble finding it." "I'm sorry, sir; I will double my efforts. “Good,” No matter how long it takes, I will make sure I do anything in my power to find that girl.
