Chapter1
Jesse Hart "If first impressions really mattered, I was already screwed." The engine of my secondhand bike was making weird sounds and releasing smoke like a smoker as I rode through the tall, covered gates of Silvercrest University a place that looked more like a castle than a college. Students walked around in expensive clothes, laughing, some tossing their perfect hair in the air, and carrying coffee cups with gold printed logos, everything about them shouted money. And then there was me..... Jesse hart wearing cheap jeans, with a scratched helmet, and a thrift store jacket, I am obviously not their kind of student. But Still, I didn’t care I fought my way here, I took on three jobs, had sleepless nights reading just to pass the exams, and now I have a full scholarship that said I belonged here, that's all that matters not there luxurious lifestyles. I parked my bike near the main building, i could feel everyone's eyes on me, It was like everyone had paused to stare at the new girl who clearly didn’t belong here, Whatever I wasn’t here to make friends, I just need to graduate as a top student and make my father proud. I got off my bike and removed my helmet just then a low, dark rumble echoed in the air. It wasn't thunder.... It was an engine A deep, roaring sound that made my chest vibrate. I slowly turned just in time as the crowd shifted making way, the students were moving aside like an invisible force parted them, I furrowed my brows looking at the space there cleared. And that’s when I saw him, he was riding a black Ducati and was speeding right at me, my heart skipped a beat as I closed my eyes waiting... For the hit, but it never came instead I heard the sound of the engine died down, I slowly opened my eyes and his bike was slid to a stop beside my rusty bike. I released a sigh of relief and that's when I looked up at the rider, he was wearing a black jacket but he removed it revealing a black T-shirt that hugged every hard, lean line of his body, I angrily looked at him wanting to see his face but he was wearing a black helmet. I stepped forward wanting to yell at him for almost crashing into me but before I could speak he pulled off his helmet, and the world went quiet.....for a moment. He had a sharp jaw, and a messy black hair, his grey eyes so beautiful they almost didn’t look real, he looks like the bad boy every mother warns her daughter to stay away from, he piercing eyes were on me before he glanced at my bike He swung a leg off the Ducati and slowly started walking towards me, each step unhurried and full of confidence, like he owned the ground beneath his boots, like owned the entire school, like he owned the entire world. “i seriously don't have time for this" he said sighing, his voice was low, void of emotions and filled with authority, before I could ask what he was talking about, he growled “Who the f**k parked here?” I flinched at how he growled, it didn't sound human, my heart was pounding but I stepped forward my chin high “Apparently I did” I stated looking directly into his cold grey eyes. Some of the students actually gasped, while others started whispering something to each other. He was looking at me like he couldn’t decide if I was brave or suicidal “You are a new student aren't you?" he questioned looking at me like I was nothing less than the dirt under his boots “And clearly you don’t know the rules.” there was something about his voice that made my body shiver a bit. “Then maybe you should put up a large billboard in front of the gates with them written boldly on it” I shot back crossing my arms, I wasn't going to back down “I didn’t see a sign here that says Reserved for Entitled Jerks to park” Seriously I won't let any spoiled brat think he can step on me, my heart was thundering in my chest out of anger as I continued looking into his eyes. A faint smile tugged at his lips, dangerous and humorless “You should be careful with your words sweetheart. Trust me you don’t want to start something you can’t finish.” he said calmly but it was clearly a warning. I took a step forward pretending the nickname didn’t annoyed me. “Are you always this dramatic or is this a special welcome for new students?” Whispers rippled around us, the students were looking at me with wide eyes like I have completely lost my mind but I ignored their gazes and continued looking at the jerk in front of me. He stepped closer, close enough that I could smell his cologne, and something else wild and earthy, It made my stomach twist. His eyes burned into mine, dark and unreadable, he was obviously about to explode out of anger. But so was I. “You have no idea who you are talking to,” he murmured his low deep voice sounding more like a growl. “yeah I obviously don’t” I said forcing my voice to stay calm “and I also don’t care to know” For a second, he looked... surprised then something dark flashed in his eyes anger, maybe? Or... I don't know but it's certainly something dangerous. He leaned in slightly, lowering his voice so only I could hear “You just made your first mistake, new girl” his whispered his breath hot on my air, my pulse twitched and I wanted to step back, but I couldn't cause stepping back means losing. I smiled sweetly “Good I like making an impression.” I replied. Then I walked past him, I grabbed my backpack, and walked toward the main building before my nerves could betray me. I could feel his piercing gaze on me I glanced back over my shoulder and he was still standing there watching me,his eyes cold and unreadable with a dangerous smi rk on his face. Like he was planning how to get rid of me.
