CHAPTER THIRTY-SEVEN THURSDAY, AUGUST 19, 2027 7:30am (00:07:57:13) Joline Cassidy saw plenty of bodies come through her morgue. Automobile accidents, gunshots, even beheadings. But nothing compared to jumpers. The body lying on the steel table in front of her was barely that. It was more a pulpy red mass with arms and legs. She inhaled deeply through her mouth as she adjusted her gloves and started her examination. The report from the scene stated that Patrice Dillon jumped from her 12th story hotel room. The evidence in front of Joline suggested such a fate, but she wouldn’t be confirming any such report before a careful examination. She’d been doing this too long to buy the obvious.
