Violet's POV
"Jee is not any ordinary beast. He is one of the sons of the Raven King. The chief here is not his true father but one of his mother's males. The Grand Chieftess left the capital because of the war. It was safer for her to leave than stay there. At the time, the Raven King could not keep her safe, so 4 of her males left with her while the Raven King and her 2 sons stayed. To this day, they are still running the kingdom and trying to handle internal issues. That is why a lot of winged beasts are here. We ran for safety. I was originally with my family in a different village. After what happened with my father and mother, I left to go to the capital." she says to me and is silent.
"The timing of things was so off! Days later, war happened. I had just settled down in my own nest and the beasts were able to get to the higher land of the kingdom. I am not too sure what they wanted but it looked like they wouldn't stop. I had seen a group secretly leaving the island, so I flew with them and never turned back. And here we are the group that abandoned the city and ran to safety." she says to me sadly.
"It must have been a beautiful place, the capital?" I asked.
"Yes it was. During my little time I stayed there, it was peaceful. The land was enormous and there was plenty of space for winged beasts to develop and grow happily with their families. It was paradise and I was happy I traveled there. But I am glad I have settled here. I would never have met my males in that huge city. We were so far apart and I am happy I have the chance here." she says to me smiling
"That's a very good outcome from that then" I said back to her.
"Truly. Violet, one of my males, is a warrior for the Raven kingdom. The Raven kingdom warriors are very let's say dangerous. The males there are trained ferociously. In the beast kingdom, they are made to be the assassins of the kingdom, since they can fly. The males start training at the age of 5 and are deployed by 9. They are lethal." she says to me concerned.
"Is this where you are getting at?" I asked her.
"Yes. Of the many warriors, Jee is the most vicious. I think that is why his father allowed only him instead of all the sons to go with his mother while the rest stayed to protect the city. He is known as death. I wanted to take you away from there so that this conversation stays between us. Not many of them knew who Jee was because he was the stealthiest and never went out into public. Most of the time he showed up only if he had to. He is also the youngest. He still had no female, which was rare. He is a beautiful creature, but when you really look deep into his eyes it's scary." she says to me, nervous
"Thanks for the warning." I told her
I appreciate her and want to be the best of friends with her, but still relationships with others will just hurt in the end. Plus, I don't plan to have any relationship with Jee so she doesn't need to be worried about it. I see worry all over her face when it comes to Jee.
"The brother who chose Rebecca as his female?" I asked.
"Isaiah is the oldest of his mom's next in line male. So they are half brothers. Jee is the youngest of the 3.
"Oh wow!" I said back to her concerning
"The day you have your own little ones it won't be much to you if you do decide that." she says back, smiling
My own little ones? In two years it will not be possible!
"Well, I did what I told myself to do. I wanted to make sure this conversation happened, otherwise I would feel guilty!" she says back to me stress free.
"Were you holding back this whole time?" I asked her teasingly.
"Yes. It bugged me but I had to wait. I wanted to say this between just us and not with anyone else nearby." she says calmly.
"Thank you again." I said and gave her a big hug
I am glad I found a female companion here. It would be lonely to not have a friend like her here in this world.
"You can stay the night here if you want. No one can trail someone here in the waterfall since the tracks are ruined by the water. And this is a secret hideout so they would never think of finding a nest in a waterfall. The bottom has sand, so it's pretty comfy since it's soft and there are a bunch of leaves around the nest to cover you. You will see later tonight how beautiful this waterfall can be if you stay." she said to me, getting up to leave.
"You must have spent many nights here?" I asked.
"Many. It won't be hard to go back. If you leave tonight, follow the fireflies. It would be a good 20 minute walk but there is only one trail and you can see the village since we have mini suns now. If you go in the morning, follow the marks on the trees." she says to me and points at engraved markings on the trees.
This must be how they get around places from far away from the village. She flies down from the nest and waves to me before she disappears into the waterfall. After everything that has happened the last few days, it makes me think why I was sent here of all places! The noise from the waterfall puts me in a trance and I lie down to sleep. Today was just too exhausting. I close my eyes and drift off.
