“It’s terrible, isn’t it,” she stated. Lisa could hear the shock in her manager’s voice. Lisa turned back to face Ruby and nodded slowly. “To happen here as well,” she continued. “A lot of the locals have been saying they're frightened to go out alone now … in case it’s a serial killer.” Ruby shivered and made her way back behind the counter. Lisa gave up trying to read over the customer’s shoulder. She had the sudden urge to get back home. She quickly made her purchases and exited the shop. The traffic was busy, with people driving into town for Saturday morning shopping. Lisa carefully crossed the road, weaving past the parked cars on double yellow lines.
