Chapter 14: Fake People

643 Words
The police are everywhere; they got here a few minutes ago and started asking and moving around. They let the audience go home while all the members of the club stayed for interrogation.     Harvey was brought to the hospital and according to Ms. Moreland, he was alive and well, which I’m not. I just have so many questions, like always.     If the killer wanted to kill him, why message me? Wouldn’t it be better if he just let Harvey die and frame me for everything? I did say that I can kill him in front of everyone. Or does he really want to frame me in every murder in the town?     These are the things that happens. First, someone dies. Then, I would look like I killed that person. After that, I would get interrogated and last but not the least, I get curious and get myself in trouble. I’ve always known that curiosity kills but I’m not a cat.     “Why did you try to stop Harvey from drinking the poison?” one of the police officer asked.     “I just had a bad feeling about it,” I answered. I had to lie. If I told him the message sent to me, they would lead to the conclusion that I didn’t check the props which lead to someone almost dying. It would look really bad for me. I was also the last one to handle the vial which would make me really suspicious.     “Alright then, thank you for our time,” he said and left.       “Is everyone ready?” Ms. Moreland asked and everyone nodded in response. The whole drama club are visiting Harvey at his house. He’s “bed-ridden” right now which is very, very weird since he only drank poison. The only thing the doctors did to him was give him Ipecac, I think.     I’m not nervous in going to the mayor’s house but everyone seemed to be very nervous. Everyone wore these formal clothes; the girls were even wearing dresses. I look like a potato wearing long sleeves and sweat pants beside them.     “Welcome everyone,” the mayor said as he opened the door. He looks corrupt.     “Good afternoon mayor,” everyone said simultaneously. They rehearsed that earlier and I refused to join in, they look and sound like elementary students when they greet teachers.     “Harvey’s room is on the second floor, the maid will assist you there,” he said, smiling, fake smile.     “You’re not coming with us mayor?” Ms. Moreland asked.     “No, I have an appointment,” he answered, pretending to be sad. I think he doesn’t like people in his house and that this is just for publicity. The election is coming up so it’s very obvious that he wants people to know that he’s in pain and agony.     “What a shame,” Joana said. Why would she be disappointed? I think it would be very nice if he left, at least everyone would act normal again.     The maid led us to Harvey’s room. “Oh, hi guys. I didn’t know you were coming,” he said in a sick, raspy voice. He’s faking it; I know he’s faking it; he clearly just wants to skip school.      Why am I surrounded by fake people?     “We brought some things for you,” Alina said, giving a basket of chocolates and foods.     “Thank you. Can you guys leave me for a while?” He asked. We literally just got here.     “Anything for you,” Mikaela said and we made our way out. “Stay,” he said. It’s very clear that it’s me he’s talking to since I’m the only one left in here.     “What do you need?” I asked, standing on the bottom of the bed.     “I know you did it on purpose,” he said. This is going to be fun.     “Did what?”     “Poison me.”     “I don’t know what you’re talking about.”     “Stop the act; I know you’re not ignorant.” This made me smile. I moved around the room, closing every curtain and moved to his bed, sitting beside him.     I placed my hand on his chest and unbuttoned his shirt.
