Sierina’s Condo

New York City

“Where are you going?” asked Chris after making out. He is still lying on my bed nakedly.

“Philippines...” I simply answered him while packing my clothes. I sat down on my bed and took a deep breath.

“Is it necessary to go back there?” He moved his uncovered body “You were there just six months ago...”

I sighed “Yes. I have to go back there and regain my life and dignity!” madrama kong sagot, nakakainis kasi si Daddy! He gave me a confusing look.

“Sie...” he caressed my back, I’m just wearing my undergarments “What will happen to us?” he asked me in dismayed.

“US?” I asked him back without looking at him “There’s no ‘US’ Christian...” I cleared out. I finished packing my clothes, I have five luggages only, I decided na kaunti na lang ang dalhin ko sa Philippines. Just the things that are necessary. Hindi rin naman ako makakapili ng maayos if pag iisipan ko pa ng mabuti kung anu-ano ang mga dadalhin ko.

Christian picked up his boxer shorts saka isinuot iyon, he is now standing in front of me, f**k! This french-american man never fails to amaze me! I’m going to miss him for sure.

“We’re doing it for two years now!” he raised his voice out of frustration, kitang kita ko rin sa mukha niya iyon. “What are your plans? I’m willing to take this, this relationship to the next level!” he declared “Just say yes...”

“Oh come on Chris!” I stood up in front of him “I thought I already cleared these things to you?” I cupped his face, his handsome face “No strings attached, remember?” He closed his eyes as I caressed his right cheek. I felt his chest matapos niyang hinapit ang beywang ko.

“I’m sorry...” I answered him saka inalayo ang sarili sa kanya “Look Christian, please accept it!” I opened the door “We’re just perfect together if we were on bed but beyond that-” I shook my head and smiled at him “We have no future...” he wore his other clothes and walked near me.

“You will miss this...” he grabbed my hand and put it in between his pants. I laughed, yes sure pero ano akala mo hindi ako makakahanap ng mas magaling sa iyo?

“I’ll bet not...” saka ko inalis ang kamay ko “and I’m sure I’ll have my new friend soon...” and I just waved at him while guiding his way out of my unit “Bye...” I winked and closed the door.

My phone beeped.

Tinignan ko kung kanino galing, it’s from my loving brother, Kuya Sid, I shrugged after reading his message. Alam kong wala na siyang magagawa this time, he can’t change Dad’s decision kahit siya pa ang panganay at pinagkakatiwalaan sa company. Baka itakwil pa kami pareho.

Tumunog ulit ang phone ko, it’s from my ‘other brother’ Slate. Lalong kumulo ang dugo ko sa message niyang ‘Good Luck Little Sis...’na may smiley pa sa dulo.

I have to call Sophie, kailangan ko ng matitirahan, I know I can’t stay in her place kasi it’s under Dad’s so-called contract and adding the fact na after their wedding, Sophie and Miguel’s wedding which happened six months ago, masyado ng makabakod ang babaeng iyon and to think na hanggang ngayon under parin sila sa honeymoon stage, hindi talaga pwede. I won’t ruin it for them.

I dialed her number and at last after four rings sinagot niya rin “GIRL GANOON KA BA KABUSY?” bungad ko sa kanya.

“Hindi mo ba alam na madaling araw na dito at nakakaistorbo ka ng tulog?” medyo husky pa ang voice niya, nagising ko nga ata, I also heard someone moaned beside her, si Miguel,malamang! Hahaha! Si Sophie, hindi naman katulad ko na mahirap hulaan kung sino ang katabi gabi-gabi.

“I know you’re tired and you have just ended your steamy night-” I teased her “Pero I want you to know na I’m going back to the Philippines...”

“Pinatapon ka na ba ng tatay mo?” she asked me na akala mo normal lang ang lahat.

“Sobrang mahal lang niya ako...” I sarcastically replied.

“Sino ba yan?” rinig ko sa kabilang line, Si Miguel, narereklamo na “It’s Sie...” rinig kong sagot ni Sophie “Tama na yan Sof, bukas mo lang siya tawagan...”

“Wait, saglit lang to!” Sabat ko “Sophie, I need a place to stay...”

“Ah...” she answered me na parang nag-iisip, she didn’t ask me why either “Well, Miguel’s Condo.“ agad niya ring suggestion, tignan mo hindi man lang inoffer ang place niya “Pero you have to share with Honey. Remember Honey? Nandito kasi sila ng husband niya sa Philippines at doon sila tumutuloy ngayon..”

“There’s no way na I will share a place with a married couple!” I shouted at her “Like Duh! You know me Sophie...”

“Oh well, sa guardhouse? I think available dun!” saka siya tumawa. Seriously? Kaibigan ba kita?

“Are you making fun out of me?” I rolled my eyes “You really find it amusing?”

“I was just joking.” Agad din niyang lambing “Sige I’ll call you bukas or later. Teka anong oras na ba? Osige basta I’ll call you as soon as possible okay?” I shrugged, ano pa ba ang magagawa ko? Kailangan ko ng hindi mura kundi libreng tirahan, at matinong trabaho na hindi masisira ang kagandahan ko!

“Sige pero be careful Sophie baka malaman ni Dad na tinawagan kita, baka-“she is my only hope, wala akong connection sa Philippines aside from her.

“I know. I know. You take care huh!” putol niya sa sinasabi ko “Wait for my call, bye girl...” and with that we’re disconnected.

AAAHHHH! I crumpled my face.

I need a job pagdating ko sa Philippines, teka magkano ba ang minimum salary ngayon? I need a job. I need a place to stay and to top with all of that I need to be a philanthropist, I need to help people!

Paano ako makakatulong sa ibang tao kung sarili ko di ko kayang masuportahan? Dad is really killing me! That old man! Now, he’s done it! Sobra siya!

I hate you Dad! I hate you!

St. Ann Hospital

“Doc, nandito po si Engineer Rod-... I mean Engineer Del Rosario.” rinig kong sabi from intercom na nakaconnect sa hospital lobby dito sa office ko “She wants to see you daw po..”

“Send her in...” I replied, after few minutes bumukas na rin ang pinto ng office ko.

“Bren...” Sophie smiled at me, no wonder she became more beautiful after their wedding. I’m happy for her.

“Sof...” sinalubong ko siya at bumeso “What brought you here?” Inalalayan ko siya hanggang makaupo sa chair na nasa harap ng desk ko “Nakabuo na ba?” I asked her “Teka, I’m not a gynecologist...” I opened my drawer “If you like I can refer you to Dr. Montenegro...”

“No Bren, I’m not pregnant, yet.” She said while beaming, bigla akong kinabahan, with that kind of smile, ano nanaman kaya ang kailangan niya? “May gusto lang akong ipakiusap sa iyo...” ah sabi ko na!

Ilang oras na simula ng lumapag ang eroplanong sinakyan ko, pero I can’t see any shadow from Sophie. Ugh! My frustration went up to the ceiling. I’m hungry, I’m tired and I want to take a bath! Did Sophie ditch me?

My phone rang after ko mag isip ng kung anu ano.

“SOPHIE!” I shouted after answering her call. I was a little desperate. “Akala ko mabubulok na ako dito sa Airport!”

“Do you think I will let that happen?” she answered me “I have a good news! Meron ka ng matutuluyan and he can offer you a job!”

“Trabaho? Sophie baka naman maabuso ang kagandahan ko diyan huh!”

“Come on, hahayaan ko bang mangyari yun?” and I heard her laughs “You will just stay in his condo, free food, free everything! All you have to do is to maintain the cleanliness and orderliness of the place.” she explained

“Maid?” I asked her

“Aah, hindi naman ganun pero parang ganun na nga!You’re so lucky na nga eh, about sa job pwede ka rin niyang ipasok ng trabaho, I’m sorry Sie, I have limitations, katulad nga ng sinabi mo, You shouldn’t receive any form of help from me, this is how far I can go.”

“Sophie I know na you will help me with all you can kung pwede lang talaga. You don’t have to apologise.Thank you!”

“I will leave to you guys your agreements on how you will settle things. Just wait him there. And Sie, please behave, okay?”

“Him? Who’s him?”

“Brenan...” she simply replied followed immediately by a disconnecting sound.

“Brenan who?” I whispered to myself while looking at my phone when suddenly someone tapped my shoulder, I turned my back.

“Miss, let’s go?” He politely asked, I was just looking at him, hindi na niya inantay ang sagot ko, he grabbed my bag and started to walk. I followed him.

It’s Brenan...

I grinned.

I think this is going to be exciting!
