Chapter 3: He Has a Girlfriend

During the meal, Shirley was not very active. She really wanted to be animated in front of Andrew, but Charlie was there.
As long as Charlie was present, she was always forced to appear depressed.
"Shirley, I'm going out with Charlie in the afternoon. Do you want to come with us?" Andrew suddenly looked at Shirley and asked. His casual tone surprised Shirley.
Her heart beat faster. Before she could show her surprise, Charlie had burst her bubble.
"What is she going to do there? She's prim and dull, and completely clueless."
The atmosphere became a little awkward.
Shirley opened her mouth in preparation to refute. She didn't want to be humiliated in front of Andrew.
However, the look Charlie gave her shut her up.
"Charlie, what are you talking about? I think Shirley is nice. Isn't it boring enough to stay at school? She should come out and relax on weekends." Andrew reacted quickly and spoke up for Shirley.
"Yeah." Shirley nodded hurriedly. She was really afraid that she would be refused if she expressed her feelings not soon enough.
However, before Shirley could rejoice, Andrew said something that crushed her entirely.
"I'll introduce my girlfriend to you guys."
Shirley's hands trembled slightly, and the fork fell to the ground.
Charlie and Andrew both looked at her.
She lowered her head and bit her lips tightly, not letting anyone see her sadness. "Sorry," she said, bending down to pick up the fork. "It slipped."
Neither Charlie nor Andrew saw her tears falling down her face.
Shirley picked up her fork and wiped her tears away in a hurry. She raised her head again, a brilliant smile on her face, looking no different from before.
Andrew continued to chat with Charlie. Only she knew how bitter she felt in her heart.
After lunch, Andrew told her that they were going swimming in the afternoon.
Hearing the word "swimming", Shirley blushed immediately. Although she could swim, she didn't even have a decent swimsuit. That was because she hadn't gone swimming for a long time. She only had children's swimsuits.
Seeing her embarrassed look, Andrew had a rough idea of what was going on.
He was like a warm brother and asked her gently, "What's wrong?"
Shirley hesitated for a while and then told him with a flushed face, "I don't have a swimsuit."
Andrew laughed out loud and narrowed his eyes slightly. His smile was sweet, and his voice was warm. "Don't worry. I'll buy you one when we pass through the mall later."
"Okay." Shirley nodded vigorously.
She knew that Charlie didn't like her. On the way to the mall to buy her swimsuit, Charlie had been muttering impatiently, which showed his reluctance.
Andrew drove, and Charlie sat in the passenger seat.
Because of Charlie's nagging, Shirley felt uncomfortable. More often than not, she would think about how nice it would be if Andrew were her brother.
However, that was only wishful thinking.
When they arrived at the mall, Charlie said that he would wait for them in the car.
Shirley thought that it couldn't be better.
However, Andrew refused. He insisted on pulling Charlie out.
---SHOPPING MALL---
Standing in front of those sexy swimsuits, Shirley blushed again.
Andrew and Charlie were sitting in chairs and waiting for her.
She was trying her best to find some swimsuits that didn't look too revealing.
The salesperson kept pestering her. "Miss, this one is stunning. Your skin is so fair, so you must look good in it."
"All right, I'll try it on." Shirley took the bikini-style swimsuit from the salesperson. She still wasn't comfortable trying it on, but it seemed like the least revealing swimsuit in the shop.
Shirley really wanted to go to another store, but when she thought that Charlie would definitely not agree, she didn't mention it.
After dawdling in the fitting room for a long time, she finally made up her mind to walk out.
The salesperson chattered on beside her. "Miss, you look GREAT in this one!"
Shirley looked at herself in the mirror. Her skin was delicate, her legs were long and she did have a great figure.
It was indeed not bad. But...
She turned subconsciously to look for Andrew, and surprisingly he met her glance.
He was looking at her with unconcealable amazement on his face.
At that moment, she knew that she must be very good-looking, and was delighted again. She turned her head hurriedly and entered the fitting room.
She was in such a hurry that she only had eyes on Andrew, so she didn't notice that Charlie was also looking at her with not only amazement, but also DESIRE.
"I didn't expect that Shirley would have grown up so much. Sexy body." Andrew patted Charlie's thigh and sighed.
However, Charlie suddenly slapped his hand away and then left in a huff.
Andrew shrugged and looked at Charlie's back in confusion. He really didn't know how he had provoked him.
After Shirley changed her clothes and went out, she saw Andrew alone. She handed the swimsuit to the salesperson and said in a soft and pleasant voice, "Pack it up for me."
"Okay." The salesperson said.
Andrew walked over and said, "How is it? Did you buy it?"
"Yes." Shirley's face turned red. She lowered her head and did not dare to look into his eyes.
"I don't know what's wrong with Charlie. He suddenly got angry," Andrew said to Shirley.
She nodded as if that was so Charlie. Then she said, "It doesn't matter. He's just like that. Don't take it to heart."
"Okay." Andrew nodded.
Shirley followed the salesperson to pay the bill. Andrew looked at her back and had a different feeling in his heart.
---Swimming Pool---
When they arrived and got out of the car, Charlie asked with a gloomy face, "Where's your girlfriend? Why hasn't she come yet?"
Andrew also looked at the time and said thoughtfully, "Let's wait a little longer. She will be here soon."
Shirley stole a glance at Andrew. He looked good even when he was anxious, but the person he liked was not her.
Shirley felt a little upset. She looked away and deliberately raised her head to look at the dazzling sun in the sky.
She didn't notice that Charlie had seen all her reactions just now.
