Although Shirley and Charlie had lived under the same roof for more than ten years, they did not have much contact.
In most cases of their contact, Andrew was on the scene.
Andrew's girlfriend was just ten minutes late, and Charlie had been talking about it all the way. Therefore, Shirley confirmed that Charlie was a self-centered man. Definitely.
But still, she could not afford to offend him.
"Monica, you're here." The moment Monica appeared, Andrew's eyes lit up, and he even raised his voice.
Shirley turned her head and looked aside. It was different from what she had imagined.
Shirley had thought that Andrew liked pretty girls who were gentle, pure, and well-behaved. However, Monica was a gorgeous woman with heavy makeup, long hair, and sexy clothes.
Anyway, Shirley was still stunned by her beauty.
When she smiled, her brows and eyes were all raised. Her every movement gave a very ostentatious and domineering vibe.
"Sorry, I'm late." She apologized graciously, looking back and forth between Charlie and Shirley.
Shirley noticed that Charlie's eyebrows were tightly knitted together. He was really rude to reveal malice to a girl whom he had just met.
"Are they your friends?" Monica naturally clung to Andrew's arm. She leaned her head on his shoulder and asked intimately and casually.
Andrew nodded and pinched Monica's fingertips. Although it was a small action, it still hurt Shirley's heart.
"This is my girlfriend, Monica. These two are my good friends, Charlie and Shirley."
"Oh, hi guys!" Monica still smiled faintly, her eyes curving up. Shirley was even a little worried that her long false eyelashes would fall off.
"Hello," Shirley said with a smile, carefully concealing her slight disappointment.
Charlie turned his head away without looking at Monica.
Then Andrew walked toward the swimming pool.
Although it was Saturday, there weren't many people in the swimming pool today. People gathered in twos and threes.
Perhaps it was because people preferred to stay at home to avoid the chill in early spring on weekends.
Monica began to take off her clothes as if there was no one else around. Compared to her, Shirley seemed a little fussy.
"What's wrong? Is this your first time here?" Monica had already changed into a bikini. She whispered to Shirley. Her face was close to Shirley's and she had a playful smile.
Shirley shook her head and then nodded.
She became more nervous when interacting with Monica. This made her a little annoyed. She felt that she had exposed more of her shortcomings in front of Andrew, and it was less likely that he would fall in love with her instead.
"If you don't take it off, I'll help you." Monica's tone was a little rude.
However, Shirley knew that Monica had no malicious intentions.
Shirley began to change her clothes in a hurry, but Monica did not leave. She leaned against the wardrobe, folded her arms, and watched Shirley's movements with interest.
Long after this meeting, Shirley finally understood that it was difficult to refuse to be friends with someone like Monica.
Shirley changed her clothes and kept her head down, her face blushing.
Monica smiled and grabbed her breast, and Shirley's face turned even redder.
"What's your relationship with that man?" Monica blocked her in the dressing room as if she did not intend to go out.
Shirley blinked her big eyes in confusion. After a while, she realized that Monica was referring to Charlie.
She explained, "He is my brother. Andrew is also my brother."
"I know." Monica laughed. She reached out to grab Shirley's arm, and they walked out together.
When they showed up near the swimming pool, almost everyone's eyes lit up.
Monica straightened her spine and raised her head. She showed off her slim figure and enjoyed being watched by others.
However, Shirley hadn't seen such a scene. Her face turned red and she kept looking down at her toes.
Charlie suddenly made a big noise in the pool for no reason.
Andrew slowly swam over. He stood below and raised his head, like a prince in a fairy tale, reaching out his hand to his princess. His smile was full of love.
Shirley had to admit that she was envious. Andrew's princess was right next to her.
With a complacent smile, Monica took Andrew's hand and jumped to play in the water with him like a mermaid.
Only Shirley was left standing by the pool. She was a little overwhelmed and her lips turned white.
Suddenly, someone grabbed her foot.
Shirley was shocked. Before she could react, she had fallen into the water with a splash.
In the shimmer of water, she saw a rare smile on Charlie's face. There was a sudden wave of anger in her heart. It was Charlie who had just grabbed her ankle, causing her to fall into the pool.
She was angry, but she didn't dare to question him. He had always been the last person she dared to provoke in her life.
The so-called going out was almost Andrew and Monica's date. Shirley felt that it was the most terrible day of her life. She was heartbroken, but she still pretended to be gentle and giggled once in a while, as if she were enjoying this.
Whenever she was free, her gaze would follow Andrew, whether he was alone or canoodled with Monica.
As a result, Shirley didn't notice that she was a little dizzy and wanted to sleep until it was about to end. The drowsiness surging up like the tide was indeed very strange and abnormal. When she was changing her clothes, she felt groggy. She shook her head vigorously, telling herself not to sleep.
It was still Andrew who was driving, and Monica was sitting in the passenger seat.
Because of this, Charlie even rolled his eyes at Monica. When Shirley saw his actions, she felt that he was jealous of his rival in love. However, when she thought about it again, she felt that Charlie was unhappy because he had to sit with her.
Monica seemed to not have had enough fun. She had been chattering all the time, but unexpectedly, her voice sounded very comfortable. "Let's go and eat Japanese food later. Or perhaps we should go to the pub at night?"
Andrew pampered her and agreed to all her requests, "At your beck and call, honey."
