Chapter Twenty-OneI can’t believe what Jenna’s persuaded me to do. After a day of rom-coms, ice cream and wine, she’s come up with what she refers to as ‘The best plan ever’. Which basically involves her waiting in the car playing The Breakfast Club soundtrack and me ringing Daisy’s doorbell with a bunch of flowers. So here I am, slightly wobbly after two glasses of my sister’s Pinot Grigio, armed with the supermarket’s finest white roses, waiting for Daisy to answer the door. We had to carefully time it; we didn’t want her mum—or, worse, her mum’s mysterious new boyfriend—to answer the door. It had to be Daisy. This involved twenty minutes of slowly driving up and down the road, peeking through the living room window and making sure the family car was nowhere to be seen. ‘Did you knock?
