Only as my Beta said the words did I realize how much I wanted my suspicions to be wrong.
Raven had said she'd come to look for her sister. I'd believed her. Clove's investigation was just something we had to do for the sake of it.
His report with Alpha Merritt's words echoed in my head.
"Are you sure about this?" I asked as my stomach knotted.
"Yes, Alpha," replied my Beta. "She had to be one of his cuz she worked there far longer than anywhere else. Then she had a falling out with the manager and vanished."
"Is this manager human or werewolf?"
"Human. So is all the other management staff. No one knows the real owners except him. I mean, the manager. He's looking for Raven, too, by the way. He said the 'big boss' and some customers miss her."
