When the shift was over, Lucy was so tired, and she had to walk home. She was living in a nasty neighborhood. But she had no choice. Life was tough, she said to herself. But there must be hope for her. she looked up and saw the stary sky. When could she be so shiny? She couldn’t help but sigh.
The street was quiet. Most people were sleeping sound and tight in their warm houses. She envied that a little and decided to walk faster. But then she heard some footsteps which were so clear in the silence. She was afraid of looking back and kept walking.
In fact, she wanted to run. But she couldn’t do that. If she ran, they might see her fear and then took advantage of that. So she just kept walking.
But the footsteps came closer and closer, seeming like to catch up with her. When she was about to run, she heard someone was calling her name, “Lucy?”
Did he know me? She was a little confused and looked back.
He was the bar manager. Lucy was so sick of him and said in a defensive way, “What do you want?”
He smiled, “I’m here to apologize. See?” He put his arms up and came closer. Just when they were near enough, he suddenly covered Lucy’s mouth and dragged her into a dark alley.
Lucy never expected that, and all of these happened too fast. She tried to scream but failed because he covered her mouth so tightly that she could barely breathe. So she struggled to kick, working really hard to get away. It seemed that she kicked over some garbage cans since the smell was really bad.
But then he figured out her move and forced her to the wall. She was pressed tightly against the wall and there was no chance for her to get away safely.
“Shhh. Be quiet and we can have some fun.” He removed his hand and tried to kiss her. But she bit his hand so hard that he screamed like hell.
“f**k. So you like the tough way. Aha?” He hit her belly and she couldn’t help huddling up because of pain.
He pulled her hair and forced her to raise her head. “You are pretty and sexy. I would definitely f**k you today.”
Tears ran down her face and she didn’t want to cry at all. She didn’t want to show her weakness now. But there was no way out.
“I quite doubted that.” Then a low voice came behind.
Lucy opened her eyes and tried to figure out who came here. The alley was really dark, and she could only saw a tall figure. She could see vaguely that that man pulled him away and fought with him. Could he do Kungfu? She asked herself. Or how could he beat him so easily? The manager knew that man was stronger than himself so he ran away very quickly.
Then that man came over and helped her stand up. “Are you OK?” asked he gently.
“Maybe I should send you to the hospital. You don’t look very well.”
“No. I’m OK. Thanks,” said she. She couldn’t afford to go to the hospital. That might cost much. She knew she could take some rest and let the wound heal naturally.
“OK. If you insist. At least let me take you home?” he offered again. At this time, they had walked out the alley, and she could see his face under this stary night. “It’s you.” She was surprised to find that that man was the brandy guy. “So you have saved me twice.” She murmured.
He recognized her as well. “What can I say? New York is too small or in fact, I followed you here. Wait, your face.” He reached out to touch her face very gently, “You got bruise here.”
She turned her head away because he was touching her wound. He pointed to his car beside the road and said, “I really should take you home.”
“No, I can’t go home like this. My family will worry about me.”
“Well, but your family will know sooner or later.”
“But not tonight. It was such a difficult night. I don’t want to explain to anyone.”
“well, I guess I can’t leave a lady like you alone here. That left us only one option. Did you want to come home with me?” he smirked, looking certain that she wouldn’t say yes.
“Yes.” The next moment, he heard her word.
His smile frozen on his face.
