Lastly, I have been working on this story for a long time, trying to make it as perfect as I can.
I had two endings as options and choose the one you will read here.

Six months made a difference to a lot of things for a lot of people. Yet of course, one thing still remained the same, one painful fact that Lachlan still could not comprehend why and how, even though Koby had told him over and over again how it all worked. His brother had done everything he could that night, finding the bullet and getting it out, stopping the bleeding and closing the wound to help with the healing and yet, none of them had been able to wake her. Koby kept telling Lachlan that it is what her body needed, for her to heal, but it still caused him pain, with ever day that passed that he could not see the smile play on her lips, hear her soft voice speak some words. He could see she was healing, Koby was not wrong about that, but it was taking a lot longer then normal for her, as they had seen the rate she healed once all her non-human bloods activated. In fact, that was how slow she was healing, like she was just a normal human. At first, he had not understood why, until Koby had explained it to him the first time, why Winter was healing like a human, what was happening, and he kept asking Koby to explain it, the magic encasing her.
They were no longer hiding in the mountain house. With Domanic and Bret Eval finally no longer a threat, both gone for good, they were safe to go back to their lives as best they could, considering what was going on. They had all been worried about Salicia, and so it was a month before they did move from the house, until they were sure she was not going to be coming back. It was Timbal who confirmed things for them and was able to show them what had happened that night. It explained what had been said that night, what Winter had done and why Bret was mad at her for what she had done to his mother. Timbal had worked some magic and recreate the events for them to see, like holograms playing out for them.
Salicia had used magic to smash down the security door to get into the house, it was the reason it looked like some explosion had gone off. Winter had been inside the house, organising decorations, for them all to put up later that night. She seemed happy, until that door was smashed open and she knew trouble was coming. Salicia was there on her own, before anyone else had arrived and they had to battle it out. Winter and Salicia fighting with magic and natural forces and after it looked like Salicia was going to win, Winter pulled an unexpected move. Salicia was about ready to do what she had come to do, to drain Winter of her blood and consume it, yet with the spell she was using, to drain Winter’s magic so she could no longer fight did not work in Salicia’s favour. Winter used a spell which in turned reflected the spell Salicia had used and returning, it drained the Dark Witch instead.
Powerless by her own magic Salicia had no fight and after a brutal pounding from Winter, who was simply trying to protect herself, the Woman got away, running out of house. She was left as a normal human and that was when Bret and his two guards had arrived. He had seen what had been done and he was not happy. It had been that moment in which Winter knew she was in trouble, when she had called out for help. She had to fight all three of them and it was not easy for her. They were fast and strong and much more skilled then she was, and she was clearly fearful of loosing. They all struggled before Winter took a move that when they saw the reimage of what happened had shocked them all. It was very quick and it seemed to cause her a great deal of pain.
Winter had changed forms, turning into a wolf, a very beautiful auburn furred wolf, she got the upper hand quickly due to that, as it surprised the three men in the house, and she locked her jaw down on the neck of one of the guard, snapping his neck and killing him instantly. She was back in human form, but she was not ok, she was in pain and it caused Bret and his last guard an opening to try and get to her. They struggled again, attempting to take her, but she was fighting strong and hard. She was able to get away from them and went to the room, to lock herself in and set up a protection spell, but they got there before she could and once more she was approached upon.
She never gave up, kept fighting, for every blow they got in, she gave two back. The guard was the next to be killed, and it shocked them how it had happened. She used inhuman speed to take them off guard and catching their neck again she bit down, eyes going red in anger and the man screaming out. Bret attacked her at that point, but it was too late for his guard. She had killed, like a Vampire would, and to their shock Koby confirmed later that the wolf guard had died instantly from the bite, infected by Vampire venom. Lachlan had been confused because as far as they knew, Winter’s bite was not infectious and yet, Sir Victor had a theory on that. It was simple, she had intent to kill, to bite and so that activated the venom. If she did not want to infect, it did not work. It was not a common thing, but he was the same apparently, so he felt it explained that very well.
Yet, Bret was not so easy for Winter to fight against. He was a wolf, but it also seemed he had some magic of his own and used that against her. They saw in the recounting hologram that Winter got away and found a spot to hide in the pool room, or at least, she thought it was a place to hide. Bret had found her and attacked once again, he pinned her down and it was clear on his intent, even as she attempted to get free. He was angry, because he found the mark, the confirmation that she and Lachlan were officially together. He hated her for it, and made her pay, thinking he could change things. He had pulled out a knife and covering her mouth with a heavy hand sliced her skin away, like he was skinning an animal, to take the mark from her.
Lachlan had been less impressed seeing this, as was everyone else, they were shocked and yet with a very quick check Corrie confirmed the mark had returned, with Winter healing, no attempt to cut the mark off would ever work, she was truly Lachlan’s other half and nothing could change that. At that point, she was healing just as fast as they had known and the healing of the mark angered Bret even more. Winter used Bret’s stunned moment to overpower and shoved him away from her, getting up and making her way to the door. They knew what happened from there, Lachlan and Shay-Lee had already been in the house looking for her, and as she tried to make her way to them, Bret took aim again, knocking her over and with a splash they fell into the water.
Under the water, Winter broke Brett’s nose, but he did not give up, grabbing at her, to chock her and drown her in the water, until Lachlan came jumping in and helped, getting her out. That was how it ended, with the events unfolding by the pool side and then she was shot, even though Lachlan had tried to pull her down, they realised Bret had used magic to force her up, shooting a second time, catching her straight into the stomach on purpose. He wanted to cause the maximum damage to her and knew where to hit.
Now, after Koby’s effort, she was still in a state, where she had not woken up. Six months, she had missed Christmas and she had missed her own birthday, again, as well as missing Lachlan’s as well. Zakari had still opened the restaurant on New Years Eve, but it had not been as much of an exciting event for some of them as they had hoped for. After a month of Winter laying in the bed, recovering and them confirming Salicia was long gone, they had moved Winter to a different place, to the hospital, but a specialised room, so they could keep a very close eye on her and so that Lachlan could spend his non working hours there as well.
It was when they moved her that Koby finally explained to Lachlan what was wrong, why she had not woken and why she was taking forever to heal and it became clear to him why Koby had rushed to get that bullet out. Lachlan demanded Koby explain it to him, and so he had. They kept it to themselves for a little while, until Lachlan finally decided to let others know. Even so, he still had to ask Koby all the time to explain it to him again, to give him faith that all was going to be ok, that Winter was doing what she needed for a reason and when she did wake, it was all going to be worth it. He just hoped, that she would wake and that her efforts would not be for nothing.
Today was again one of those moments, it was late and Lachlan had returned back to the specialised hospital room after spending most of his day in a meeting for some new investments. He had been in the room, all but for five minutes before Koby had arrived, to do a routine check up. There were machines attached to Winter, monitoring her, just in case there were any dramatic changes that needed attention quickly. Koby did not think they were too needed, but it was Lachlan who asked for them to be there, because it gave him some piece of mind. He also found sometimes listening to the machines repeat of her heart beat smoothing and he would sit there many times just listening to it, waiting and watching her.
“Koby.” Lachlan started.
“What’s up?” Koby said.
“Are you sure… Winter will wake up one day?” Lachlan asked.
“I am… we just… don’t know when.” Koby let out a sigh.
“Explain it to me again please. I really need to understand this whole thing again.” Lachlan told him.
“Again? I feel like this is becoming a daily thing for you.” Koby said.
“It keeps me sane and hopeful.” Lachlan admitted.
“Ok… well… Winter is in like a protective shield of magic… it has encased her during this time to help protect her, to keep her body functioning, to make sure after what happened her systems do not start to shut down before it is time.” Koby explained. “She… was able to mind link me and tell me this is what she was going to do, which was why I trusted her to let me get that bullet out. She was holding it back, to stop it going any further into her body, otherwise… very likely we would have lost her and there would have been that flow on affect.”
“You keep telling me the bullet was not a normal one.” Lachlan said with a sigh.
“Correct, whatever Bret used, it was intended to kill almost right away. Imbedded with properties that could kill a wolf and a vampire, the sure way of killing somebody like Winter.” Koby said.
Lachlan was silent and nodded instead. He had heard this so many times, but he still kept asking, to really grasp it all. He hated the fact that she was once again in a position that meant she was there, but she was not. It was painful to see her so silent and still on the bed, for them to wait for her to wake up again. It was like she was in a self induced coma, using magic to protect herself and only she can decide when she would want to wake up.
He did wonder though, even though on the outside she was silent and still, lying on that bed like a sleeping princess, what was going on inside her mind. Was she sleeping too, or was she awake, could she hear them, sense them? Jake had once explained to Lachlan that when a Witch went through Enlightening they went into some sort of mind room and they could sense everything, feel and hear everything on the outside, as they discover themselves on the inside. He did wonder if it was like that for her again this time, in a way he hoped it was, that way even if she was still and silent on the outside, she was not missing out on what was really going on around her. That every update he gave her, everything he told her, she would know and so when she woke up it would not be a huge shock to her with how much time had passed. Six months now, how much longer was it going to be?
