- Are you out of your mind? She hissed
Mattew and Samantha were standing above her with smug faces.
- I don’t care how you convince Grandpa, but don’t think I am going to just sit down and look at you when you mess up what I’ve been working for.
She slowly stand. She may have twisted her right ankle and her knees were on fire. Mattew step into her face.
- I threw you out of my life once, and I can do it again. I advise you to shyly vanish before I made you, dear FI.O.NA
He smiled with Samantha chuckling next to him. Mary was pissed, and her eyes were teary from the pain, but she would be damned if he saw her cry.
Mattew signaled for the security guard to come.
- Throw out the garbage and don’t just let anyone come inside.
He wanted to humiliate her. She knew it, but it still made her blood run hot. The guard calmly escorted her out.
- Do you need me to call a cab madam?
She looked at him. Surprisingly, he was not just ignoring her even when he saw how his boss was acting towards her.
- What is your name?
- Donald madam, I am sorry about that.
- Donald. Thank you. I am Mary and don’t worry, I can manage on my own.
He smiled and let her go. She had wanted to give up the share and avoid conflicts, but that i***t just had to walk all over her. Now she would show him that she wasn’t that Fiona anymore but Mary.
She took out her phone.
- Remy, I am ready to be grandpa heir. Let’s meet.
***
- Shouldn’t you be putting him in jail? He pushed you to hurt you. That was a premeditated crime.
It was 2 days since crossing paths with the vampire pair. She had asked Remy to take her to the hospital. Luckily, she hadn’t twisted her ankle like she first thought, it was just a bruise. The doctor told her to avoid walking on it for 3 days and gave her painkillers.
Remy was livid and wanted to tell Grandpa or bury Mattew, but Mary refused, saying she would deal with him by herself. She signed the paper accepting her inheritance and was calmly nursing her ankle back to health. Well, not so calm since Milly had been spitting out fire for 2 days.
- It isn’t a crime, more like a conflict.
- I don’t care, he is a waste of oxygen and needs to be put six feet under.
- Mommy, wha tis fi fi under? Ask Lorenzo who was playing next to them.
- Nothing my baby, mommy was talking about someone.
Lorenzo pondered her response for a moment then went back to play with his car. They were sitting in the restaurant during the day break.
Milly was going to say something else when the chime rang. She turned thinking it was professor Henry, since it was afternoon and they weren’t open yet. But standing at the door was Matteo.
Milly hissed, jumped up, grabbed the pitcher near her and before Mary could open her mouth, she threw it at Matteo’s face.
- Milly! Mary shouted.
- How dare you come here?! Get out of my restaurant before I call the police!
Lorenzo, who had been startled, clung to his mother’s legs and started to cry.
- It isn’t Mattew!
- Stop defending him! I am calling the police right now! She said, grabbing her phone.
Matteo just stood there baffled and soaking wet.
- Melissa! Would you listen for one second? This is Matteo, Mattew’s twin!
Milly froze. Looked at Mary, then Matteo, who was still immobile. Well, Mattew would’ve already gone ballistic by now. Wouldn’t he?
- He really isn’t?
- No, he really isn’t. I mean he is Matteo. He isn’t Mattew
- Oh Crap!
After apologizing, she gave him a towel and a change of clothes. He took the towel but refused the clothes.
- Thank you. I am not staying for long.
Milly excused herself to calm Lorenzo, who was still frightened.
- I apologize again, Milly isn’t a fan of your brother.
- I understand, I am not a fan either.
He sat on the chair in front of her.
- What are you doing here?
He put the towel on the table in front of him. Then look at her.
- I was looking for you.
- Of course you were. But why?
He chuckled. His features may resemble those of Mattew, but that chuckle was something else altogether. Beautiful, calm, awesome.
- Are you always on guard?
- Do you always answer one question with another one?
- I am full of curiosity. What about you?
- Me too.
He smiled.
- Remy came to see me today.
Mary took a sip of water.
- Let me guess, he snitched! Didn’t he?
- Let’s say he wasn’t satisfied with your inaction. Neither am I. With the power you hold in your hands, you can make his life really difficult. Why aren’t you using it?
- If I suppress him at work, it will hinder grandpa's business. I can’t have that.
- Then what is your plan?
- What does that have to do with you?
- He hurt you, and he has to pay for that. You are a woman and his ex-wife he needs to be thought some manners. So, what is the plan?
He wasn’t going to give up.
- what really pissed him off was not being able to make me disappear. Guess what, there is that social gathering in two days when main shareholders are invited. I really can’t miss that.
Matteo smiled, showing his teeth. His very white and beautiful teeth. Man, do they really have to be that eye-catching in that family?
- Do you have a partner?
- I was going to ask Remy, but he had plans with his fiancee.
- Then it is settled. He said while standing and buttoning his jacket.
- Sorry? She asked, confused.
- I am going with you.
- I don’t think so!
- Yes! I am! Think about it! The ex-wife he cannot bottom and the brother who just came back from abroad to take away his inheritance. He is going to be red mad and won’t be able to do a thing about that.
Well, that sounds wonderful.
- I think I would enjoy seeing that.
- Then we have a deal. Until then, have a good night Mary.
And he was gone.
