# CHAPTER 19: RETURN TO THE NORTH
The journey to the Northern Black Pack took three days.
Three days of silence.
Three days of memories.
Three days of Nova fighting against the strange feeling that she was not returning to the North as the same person who had left.
Because she wasn't.
Five years ago, she arrived there broken.
Now she returned carrying a power even she didn't fully understand.
The mountains grew closer with every passing hour.
The air became colder.
Sharper.
Familiar.
Her wolf reacted immediately.
Not with fear.
With recognition.
*Home.*
The thought surprised Nova.
She had spent years convincing herself she belonged nowhere.
Not Silver Moon.
Not anywhere.
Yet the North had always been the place where she was allowed to exist without apology.
---
### NOVA
The gates of the Northern Black Pack opened before she reached them.
The guards didn't raise weapons.
They didn't question her.
They simply bowed.
"Luna Nova."
The title still felt strange.
Not because she didn't deserve it.
Because she remembered when nobody believed she deserved anything.
She walked through the gates.
The territory was exactly as she remembered.
Dark stone buildings.
Frozen forests.
Warriors training beneath the mountains.
But there was one difference.
Everyone looked at her differently.
Not as the girl Lucien rescued.
As a leader.
A warrior.
A force.
She entered the main hall.
And there he was.
Alpha Lucien Draven.
Standing before the massive fireplace.
Waiting.
He looked exactly the same.
Calm.
Controlled.
Impossible to read.
"You took longer than expected."
Nova stopped.
"I was busy."
Lucien's expression barely changed.
"Fighting your past."
A pause.
"And your feelings."
Nova's eyes narrowed.
"I didn't come here for a lecture."
"No."
He turned toward her.
"You came because you finally realized I was keeping secrets."
Silence.
Because he was right.
Nova hated that.
"What am I?"
The question filled the room.
Lucien studied her carefully.
For the first time, his expression softened.
"You are the last of the Eclipse Bloodline."
The words meant nothing.
Yet everything.
Nova remained still.
"Explain."
---
### LUCIEN
Lucien walked toward the ancient shelves lining the wall.
For years, he had known this moment would come.
He had hoped it would come later.
But fate had never cared about timing.
"The Eclipse Bloodline existed before the current Alpha kingdoms."
He removed an old book.
"Before pack borders. Before councils. Before titles."
He placed it on the table.
"They were not rulers."
Nova looked at the book.
"Then what were they?"
Lucien's voice lowered.
"Balance."
She frowned.
"Balance?"
"They existed to prevent any one Alpha from becoming powerful enough to destroy the entire wolf world."
Nova stared at him.
"So my bloodline was created to stop Alphas?"
"Not stop."
A pause.
"Judge."
The word settled heavily.
Nova opened the book.
Ancient symbols filled the pages.
Some she recognized.
Some she didn't.
"The Crimson Circle knows."
Lucien nodded.
"They have searched for your bloodline for decades."
"Why?"
"Because they believe the Eclipse Bloodline can give them control over every pack."
Nova laughed coldly.
"So they want to use me."
"Yes."
"And you?"
Lucien's gaze met hers.
"I wanted to protect you."
The answer was immediate.
Too immediate.
Nova looked away.
"That's not the whole truth."
"No."
Lucien didn't deny it.
"Because I also needed you alive."
There it was.
The honesty she expected from him.
Lucien had never pretended to be completely selfless.
"You always knew this day would come."
"Yes."
"And you still sent me to Silver Moon."
"Because running from your destiny would not erase it."
Nova closed the book.
"And Kade?"
Lucien went silent.
That silence answered enough.
"What about him?"
Lucien looked toward the fire.
"The Moon Goddess made a mistake."
Nova froze.
"What?"
"The bond between you and Kade was never supposed to happen the way it did."
Her heart tightened.
"Explain."
Lucien turned back.
"Your bloodline changes the way bonds work. You are not bound by ordinary rules."
A pause.
"The rejection should have destroyed the connection."
"But it didn't."
"No."
His expression became serious.
"Because something stronger interfered."
---
### NOVA
Her mind immediately went to the impossible.
The dreams.
The reactions.
The pull.
Kade.
She hated that.
She hated that even after everything, some part of her still responded to him.
"Why tell me this now?"
Lucien didn't answer immediately.
Then:
"Because the Crimson Circle has awakened something inside you."
Nova looked down at her hands.
The strange energy.
The mark.
The dream.
Everything connected.
"What happens next?"
Lucien's eyes darkened.
"You choose."
"Choose what?"
"Whether you become the protector your bloodline intended..."
A pause.
"Or the weapon your enemies want."
---
### SILVER MOON
Far away, Kade stood in the empty council chamber.
Nova had been gone for two days.
And he hated how quiet everything felt.
He had spent years believing distance was freedom.
Now he understood.
Distance was punishment.
Commander Rowan entered.
"Alpha."
Kade looked up.
"What happened?"
"The eastern border has movement."
His expression changed.
"Crimson Circle?"
"No."
Rowan hesitated.
"Something worse."
Kade stood.
"What?"
The commander handed him a report.
Kade read it.
Then his face hardened.
A message had been found at the border.
Not carved.
Not hidden.
Delivered.
Only one sentence.
**THE ECLIPSE WOLF WILL CHOOSE HER KING.**
Kade's grip tightened around the paper.
Because he understood what it meant.
The entire world knew something about Nova.
Something he didn't.
And for the first time...
He wasn't fighting to keep his pack.
He was fighting to understand the woman he had lost.
---
### NOVA
That night, standing beneath the northern stars, Nova finally understood.
Her entire life had been leading to this moment.
The rejection.
The pain.
The training.
The revenge.
None of it was random.
But knowing she had a destiny didn't mean she had to surrender to it.
She looked toward the south.
Toward Silver Moon.
Toward Kade.
Then toward the mountains.
Toward the enemies waiting for her.
A slow determination settled inside her.
They wanted an Eclipse Wolf.
They wanted a weapon.
They wanted a ruler.
They would get one thing.
Nova Blackwood.
And she would decide what that meant.
