Chapter 1 The world’s end wasn’t full of screaming and explosions. No, it was a weather report. A stupid, boring weather report. Most people never even realised what had happened, until it was too late. not that anyone could have prevented the Drowning. Not recently, anyway. Climate change had been happening for decades and this was the day nature struck back. Rain. Lots of rain. It’s raining now and it’s been raining for five days. Non-stop. In the entire country. Most of the world. Even Africa has rain storms like they’ve not experienced since records began. Cellars are flooding, bridges have closed, entire villages are having to be evacuated as rivers break from their beds and swallow the dwellings built too close to their banks.
