Chapter 3
Overnight, the media have coined the term The Drowning for the weather events currently affecting the entire world. Never-ending rain, tsunamis, thunderstorms, earthquakes. It’s as if the planet has suddenly decided to rid itself of all life on its surface.
Only half the usual staff are in the office. The rest of us is dazed and shocked. Thousands of people died yesterday and millions are missing. How many more will die today?
It’s almost a relief to be able to focus on Mars’s problems. As big as they seem to the colonists, as small they are to me when compared to the death and destruction facing Earth.
Pete>>Bad news.
Okay, maybe their problems aren’t small. I take a deep breath, hoping that the worst case scenario hasn’t happened.
