What exactly haven't I seen before?

Reina’s POV I realized I had become too soft after hearing those words. Without further hesitation, I returned to my usual self — the defiant one. “Was it necessary to call my dad and tell him about the attack today?” I asked. He smiled faintly as he sat beside me. “Your father and I are closer than you could ever imagine. After my papa, Mr. Vincenzo De La Cruz, passed away three months ago, my rivals multiplied. The only man who chose to stand by my side was your father. We need each other in this mafia system,” he replied calmly. I looked away, staring at the curtains and the walls while my mind wandered. Who could possibly want me dead? Sebastian reached for my right arm and I turned sharply, ready to protest. “Before you bark at me, I just wanted to check the bruise again,” he said with a smirk. “Oh please, Mr. ‘I become a doctor the moment my wife is injured,’ it’s no big deal. I think I need to bathe now,” I replied, standing up stiffly and marching toward the bathroom like a soldier. Inside, I paused when I heard Sebastian instructing one of the servants to assist me. A small smile crept onto my lips as I replayed the concern in his voice earlier. “I never thought Sebastian could be this sweet,” I muttered. Just then Maria knocked softly. “Mrs. Reina, the master ordered me to help you bathe.” “Oh, come in, Maria. And please don’t be so formal,” I answered. --- Sebastian’s POV After leaving the room, I walked around the compound, my mind racing. I couldn’t stomach the thought that someone had dared to come after my wife. What do these men take me for in this town? Have I been so calm that some fool thinks he can play games with me? As I wrestled with those thoughts, my phone buzzed. A message from a hidden number. A cruel laugh escaped me as I read it. Surprise! Surprise! That got you, didn’t it? I know you’re restless at the moment. I can already imagine your wife trembling in fear. Lucky Reina — it would have been her heart, not her arm… So it wasn’t random. Someone had deliberately targeted her. Which meant they were trying to get to me. My jaw tightened. At that moment, all I could think about was making this coward pay for daring to touch what was mine. Still… I was proud of her. My Reina hadn’t shown fear. Not once. --- Reina’s POV When Maria and I stepped out of the bathroom, I dismissed her, even though she insisted on helping me dress. Injured or not, I was capable of taking care of myself. I wished everyone — especially Sebastian — could see that. He walked in just as I loosened my towel and reached for my nightwear. “You should have knocked!” I gasped, clutching the fabric to myself as heat rushed to my cheeks. “I should knock before entering my own room?” he asked, amused. “Yes! Can’t you see I’m naked?” “And what exactly haven’t I seen before?” he countered smoothly. “Remember that night? I dressed you myself.” I quickly slipped into my clothes, refusing to meet his eyes, then lay down on the bed. He joined me, his gaze shamelessly roaming over my curves. “Now I can’t think straight because I just saw you half naked. You did that on purpose, didn’t you?” he teased. “Don’t blame me for whatever naughty thoughts are in your head. I want to sleep,” I snapped. He laughed and pulled off his shirt. And unfortunately for me… my eyes betrayed me. My gaze lingered on his sculpted abs longer than it should have. My mind wandered in dangerous directions, imagining what it would feel like to trace my fingers across his skin. “Are you sure you don’t want this marriage to be consummated?” he asked suddenly, pulling me out of my thoughts. I frowned instantly and turned my back to him. He only laughed again. The same man I once detested with every breath was now my husband… and my fiercest protector. And somehow, that terrified me more than the gunshot ever could.
