Chapter 1
Natasha and Malcolm stared at each other as if their minds were speaking to each other. They felt a great attraction towards each other even though they had remained friends since childhood. "Do you think this is a good idea?" Malcom asked, even though his brain wasn't functioning at that point. Natasha nodded eagerly. "I really want to do this, but I'm having second thoughts," Malcom said. Natasha frowned. "Don't you want to do this?" Malcolm smiled and shook his head. "Of course I want to." At that point, all they felt were great burning desires for each other as they both stared at each other lustfully. They made love. She had given her first time to her best friend, and she didn't regret it. Natasha had come to his house as it had become a habit for the both of them to visit each other's home since childhood. Natasha was an omega and an orphan. The other pack members had despised her and made fun of her; Malcolm had treated her differently and even defended and threatened anyone who dared make fun of her. He treated her as a person and not an object of ridicule. They both breathed heavily when they were done with the deed, and Malcom cuddled her. "That was amazing," Natasha said, smiling from ear to ear. ***************** Natasha's Pov It was already six months since the s*x escapade of I and Malcolm. We had been having s*x in secret, and I had already fallen head over heels for him. I knew he wasn't really in love with me. He was taking me as a friend, but there was nothing I could do. I smiled up at him as he cradled me. "Malcom," I began. "Mmm," he responded, barely opening his eyes. "You know. There's something bothering me," I said. Malcom opened his eyes and stared at me, giving me a sign to go on. "You know, it's time for the both of us to get our mates," I said. I felt Malcom stiffen. I didn't know if it was out of shock or disappointment. "What about it?" he asked. "Well, what if the moon goddess makes me your mate?" I asked. Malcom smiled and kissed my forehead. "Don't bother your head about all these things," he said and laughed. I knew he didn't want to talk about it because he was scared, so I kept mute. But deep down, I hoped the moon goddess would be kind and mate Malcom to me. ****** It's been two weeks, and the day I was supposed to find my mate and other wolves too. I went into the woods to prepare myself as the mate of Malcolm. We love each other. I felt something wasn't right, so I went back to the pack to confirm. Once I was at the pack, I saw people celebrating and partying. I actually don't know why they were partying. "Natasha, come on," an elderly woman calls out to me. It was weird, as no one had bothered to invite me to a party. I looked around and walked over to a gathering of girls. I took some wine and flowed with everyone that cared to talk to me. I turned to look at one of the girls who was dancing her ass off. "Hey," I yelled, my voice barely heard as the music was blaring. She turned to me and frowned. "What?" she yelled back. I guess she was one of those that despises me. "What's the party about?" I inquired about curiosity taking over me. "Funny. How can you be best friends with Malcom and you don't know?" She asked. It made me more confused. "What are you talking about?" I asked. She shook her head in pity. "Well, we found Luna for the pack," she said. I swallowed hard, the meaning of her words slowly dawning on me. "What do you mean Luna of the pack?" I continued. "You didn't think Malcom was going to beat you just because you are best friends with him," she teased. I looked at her in awe. "You see that girl over there, serving the drinks and smiling?" she asked, pointing towards a beautiful girl. I looked at her and smiled sadly, already guessing the next words. "She is the mate of Malcolm. That is what this party is about. She is the Luna of the pack now," she said and walked off, pretending she didn't just drop a bombshell on me. If there was something worse than heartbreak, I would take the lead in that. No words could express the way I was feeling. Did the moon goddess just do this to me? Did she just take Malcom out of my grasp and give her to another woman? No. I needed to find Malcolm. I walked out in the open and used my eyes to search for Malcolm. I soon found him, and our eyes locked. I walked further down toward the isolated part of the compound. Malcom came after me and smiled. He seemed happy. "Natasha. I finally found my mate," he said, smiling ever so widely. I felt a banging pain in my chest seeing him smile so comfortably. Did I mean nothing to him? Were all the times we spent together just a fling to him? "Really? You're happy?" I asked. Malcom seemed taken aback. His face twisted in confusion. "You're not happy for me?" he asked, coming closer to me. I moved back, and the tears that had been threatening to fall from my face finally found their way down my cheeks. "Do you think I should be happy for you?" I asked, whispering. "What do you mean?" Malcom asked. "Malcolm. I gave my virginity to you. Why do you think I've been having relations with you? For the thrill of it?" I yelled. "I don't understand Natasha. What do you mean?" he still asked. It infuriated me more seeing he doesn't even have any clue to what I was saying. "I hoped that the moon goddess would make me your mate because I loved you, Malcom," I yelled, grabbing his collar. Malcom tried to calm me by parting my back and sighed. "There's something you're missing. We both enjoyed it, Natasha," he began. I felt my legs turning to jelly. "I can't possibly leave my mate just because you're hurt and can't accept her as my mate." My eyes bulged. He did not just say that to me. "You are joking right?" I asked Malcom ruffled his hair. It was obvious he was having a hard time explaining it to me. . "Look Natasha. I enjoyed every moment spent with you. But I just can't leave my mate. She's my mate after all," he continued. "I hope we can still remain friends," he concluded. "No," I yelled. "You can't just toss me like this. You're the only one that values me in this pack. You can't do this to me." I wasn't having any of it. He couldn't just abandon me after everything. I gave my life and virginity to him. He couldn't treat me this way. I can't stay here anymore. He doesn't need me anymore. I have to get out of this pack. I needed to leave here as soon as possible. I stared at the confused Malcolm and walked back. Malcom just stared at me, speechless. He stared at my retreating figure and said nothing. I turned around and ran away. I had no friends here. There was no one to talk to. No friends to make jokes and make me smile. My friends and family didn't need me anymore. Malcom shouldn't have accepted his mate. He should have chosen me and not her. I ran away from my pack that night to start a new life.
