Chapter 1: A stranger in a hideout
I’ve been at Hideout for an hour already when I see him. He has an easy way about him, laughing at the bar with a friend, glass (Whisky?) in hand. I continue to watch him while I dance with friends. He’s attractive, I can’t see a ring, he looks like he has a sense of humour- maybe I’ve found a partner for the night. I shimmy next to Georgia, both of us enjoying the chance to let loose at the end of a long week. I’m still thinking about how to approach him when I turn back to look at him again. He rolls his sleeves up, revealing strong forearms. He looks around the room, and catches me watching him. An arched eyebrow seems to ask ”And what are you looking at?”* I shrug and smile while mouthing “What? You’re hot.” Surprise shows on his face, and I smile again before entering another spin with Georgia. Maybe talking to him will be easy. Georgia takes the hand of a guy next to her, and I’m alone again in the crowd as they dance a little further away. I’m still thinking about the guy by the bar when I decide to take a break and head to the bathroom to freshen up. Standing in front of the mirror, I push my hair back and splash a little cold water on my face before heading back. The door swings shut behind me and I crash straight into somebody. I look up into rich brown eyes looking back into mine. I suck in a breath, surprised to have run into him so quickly.
“So, you think I’m hot.” I step back a little so I can see him better.
“Well I won’t take it back.” I let my eyes travel his body, take in his face now that he’s closer.
“Yeah, I definitely find you attractive.” He closes the gap again, and tilts my chin.
“I will say, you’re pretty intriguing yourself.”
“Why, because I’m direct? I believe in saying what I think, and what I want.” His hold on my chin tightens just a little.
“You haven’t actually said what you want.” I pause
“I’m not sure yet, but I want to start with you kissing me. Sooner rather than later.” As the last words leave my lips, his mouth replaces them, his hands wrapping around my back, in my hair. And I already know I’m going to want more than this as his lips continue to press against mine, his tongue grazing before he pulls on my bottom lip with his teeth and I pull back just a little. He moves down to my neck and I tip my head back so his lips can roam the senstive skin there. He trails kisses from my collarbone to my throat before teasing my earlobe with his teeth and a quiet moan escapes my mouth.
“Your place, or mine?” I pant. He pulls away from my neck, his voice low.
“Not interested in being f****d in the hallway then?”
“Maybe sometimes, but no, not today.” His eyes are dark, and I smirk. He plants another kiss on my throat and I shiver.
“Fine.” He straightens. “I’ll call the car.” He takes my hand in his and pulls me through the crowd, heading for the door. I have no problem following him as he carves a path through bodies swaying and grinding under the flashing lights. We reach the door quickly, where he says a few words to a guy before we collect our jackets and step out into the crisp air.
“Hang on, I should txt my friends and let them know Im leaving.”
“Yeah, of course.” I type out a quick message to Georgia- Hey, I’m leaving with..
“Uh, what’s your name?” I can’t help feeling a little sheepish.
“James.”
“Nice to meet you.” I grin. “I’m Carmen”. I send my message and put my phone away again, watching a group of friends spill out of the club behind us, laughing as they head around the corner.
“The car’ll be here shortly”. I turn back towards him, and something stirs my memory. Out here in the streetlight, he looks a little familiar.
“Do you come to Hideout often?” He shrugs.
“I’ve been a few times, but I wouldn’t say often, no.” I tilt my head, frowning a little.
“Is it a problem?” His brow arches.
“No.. sorry, I just feel like maybe I’ve meet you before, but I have no clue where from.” He pauses.
“I mean, maybe you have seen me there. You must have a good memory.” It’s my turn to shrug.
“I guess, it doesn’t really matter.” A car pulls up, but it’s not the Uber that I was expecting. “You have a *driver*?” I look at him, and he shrugs yet again. This is interesting.. now I want to know who he is even more. He opens the door and looks at me, and I don’t hesitate before climbing in. I’m almost too busy trying not to gape at the luxurious interior to notice him follow me in.
“It’s a short drive. But if you’ve changed your mind, I can drop you home instead.” I let a slow smile spread across my face
“Oh, I’m not going anywhere unless you tell me to.” I can’t help feeling smug when his eyes darken again, but my self satisfaction melts away into heat when he asks
“And if I tell you to come over here and get on my lap?” I glance towards the driver and he presses a button without looking and a partition slides into place. Well then.. I straddle James, my hands on his chest, wondering what he has in mind. His eyes look into mine as his hands land on top of my thighs. His thumbs begin to trace small circles on the inside of my legs as his hands slowly glide higher and I bite down on my lip. He continues to watch my face as he stops with the circles and his hands push the skirt of my dress higher, reaching around to squeeze my ass. I know my face isn’t hiding a thing, know he can see exactly how turned on I’m getting. I let my hands wander too, slipping them behind his head as I lower my mouth to his, leaning into his body with mine. His lips are greedy against mine and I run my tongue along his lip. I’m too immersed in the kiss to keep track of where his hands are as they rove across my body. He settles one high on my thigh and another on my waist, holding both tightly as he pulls me even closer. I can feel him rubbing against me through his pants and I groan into his mouth. The hand on my thigh slips down, tracing circles again, tantalisingly close.. The car pulls to a stop and we pause, both breathing hard.
