Chapter one shattered innocence
Kiara POV
Was this how it felt to be useless? To be worthless? Worthless. A stranger among your own pack, among your own people. Yet you don't even have the audacity or the mouth to speak up. It hurts me every day. Anytime I open my eyes and see I am about to relive another day.
Still under Alpha Ash. Still that worthless Omega, that weak wolf they always saw me as. The torture continued and, of course, it was about to start again—even more than it was before. I slowly made my way towards the crowd as Alpha Ash seemed frustrated.
"Where is Kiara?"
He shouted as every nerve in my body shivered in fright. But I still tried my very best to act calm.
"I'm here,"
I muttered as he looked at me.
"You are here. So what should I do? Jump in excitement?"
He said, slowly making his way towards me. I couldn't tell what his next action was going to be, but I knew I had to dodge it so badly. But before I could even embrace his frowns, he gave me a quick slap on the face as I held my cheek. It stung so badly. It stung like always. He wouldn't stop.
"You worthless parasite. How dare you disobey me!"
He shouted as I stayed quiet. I couldn't say anything. I knew no reason why I was receiving this punishment or what I had done exactly. But Alpha Ash always had this thing for me. Whenever he was pissed, whenever things didn't go the way he wanted, my cheek and my body became a punching bag and a slapping tool. That was all he saw me as. Nothing more.
My name is Kiara Hale. I am an Omega in the Blue Lake Pack. I am the most despised wolf because I have no wolf, no power, or status to show I exist. I was just a girl whose luck got lost in the world of forgotten souls. And I had to be in the worst situation, being with Alpha Ash. I couldn't even say anything as other maids looked at me, some whispering amongst themselves. I knew this news was going to be another new topic. And of course, the head maid would make me her slave today, reminding me of what Alpha Ash had done to me.
"Didn't I warn you multiple times? I keep telling you: stay where I place you. You don't listen,"
He said as I tried my best to raise my head above my bow.
"I did not disobey you, and I did not do anything you don't want me to do. Please, if I have done anything wrong, at least give me a chance to explain,"
I said as he laughed.
"You don't deserve a chance to explain. You are nothing. I always keep reminding you about it, but you never forget,"
He said, raising his hands up to the air. I was already expecting another slap, knowing I couldn't dodge it. But the next thing I felt was a punch in my belly. I choked, not knowing how to react. He really did hit me in the place I did not expect, and at this point, I couldn't even feel my belly. My brain suddenly went numb. Was this how it felt to be in pain?
"I told you: when I'm talking, you don't talk,"
He hit me again as I fell to the ground on both knees. I couldn't say anything.
"I am sorry, Alpha Ash,"
I muttered as he rolled his eyes.
"I thought you wouldn't apologize, you worthless i***t. I don't know how many times I keep explaining this to you, but you don't deserve to be in my pack,"
He said, but I couldn't mutter another word. I didn't know what to say. I didn't know what to do. And next, his feet came stomping me to the ground.
"Please, please, I promise I won't disobey you,"
I pleaded, but he didn't listen to any of my words and instead continued to kick me until he kicked me in the belly again. This time it hurt so badly. I looked at him in rage. I wish I could do something. I wish I could fight back, not be the weak woman he knows me for. I wish I could do so many things. But now all I could do was stare at him, not able to say anything.
"Why are you staring at me like that?"
He shouted as he picked up a whip which he had prepared, and my eyes suddenly widened. My body trembled hard as I rushed towards him and held onto his robe tightly.
"Please, please, Alpha Ash, one more chance. I promise I won't make any mistake. Whatever I did, forgive me. I am worthless and I accept my fate. Please don't do this to me. I beg you,"
I pleaded with him continuously, but yet he still whipped me as I fell to the ground. Yes, I had so many scars on my body, but he was topping them up, and he pained knowing he had found a fault in me before and still did again. It felt like an endless torture. This was one of the main reasons why I always never wanted to wake up the next day. I wish I could just die. At this point, I wasn't useful anymore.
"Please stop,"
I pleaded.
"Tell no more lies!"
He snapped with bits of sweat dripping from his forehead.
"Stop, please,"
I continued begging, and he did not stop until my clothes were soaked with a glossy... stop... drenched in my own blood. My eyes began to close as the beating got worse.
"That is all for today. If you dare disobey me, you won't be able to keep your life,"
He said.
"Consider yourself grateful enough to be my slave,"
He added, and I couldn't even say a word.
"Tomorrow, Alpha Theodore of Black Vine will be paying us a visit, and this will be my chance to ally with the most brutal Alpha from the north,"
He declared, his words dripping with all his imaginations. I guess that was why he found me as a scapegoat. He wanted to use me as an example or pour out his anger or frustration. If he doesn't get Alpha Theodore’s approval, I might just lose my life.
"So I want you to serve him well,"
He shouted, bringing me back to reality as I nodded.
"I will,"
I muttered.
"If you dare ruin this, I will skin you,"
He warned with a smirk which caught on the corner of his lips as he turned away, closing the door behind him.
At this moment, all I could think about was revenge. How I could get back at him for everything he had done to me, make him know what it feels like. He did this to me and he will pay, even if it's not now. But very soon. Just when my eyes slowly began to shut—no one to help me, everyone left me deserted, I couldn't even stand up—I heard footsteps behind me.
"Kiara,"
He called. At that moment, I knew it was Lucas, my childhood friend and Alpha Ash's son, the only person who would always come to help me. But before I could say a word, I lost consciousness and everything went blank
