Ophelia worked a few days in the medical ward not doing much besides sitting at a station hearing how Mr. Hotpants, who she found out was named Griffin, was irresistible to women and couldn't figure out why she was immune to his charm. And every time she would shrug her shoulders and try to tune him out.
"I don't understand why you won't give me a change. You're hot, I'm incredibly hot." His words made her cringe.
"Can you just leave me alone. I don't like you and I never will with the way you open that thing called a mouth and talk about yourself." She slammed the medical book she was going through on the counter and walked towards the doctor's office. She knocked on the door and then entered. She sat down on the chair across his desk with stacks of papers that never seemed to disappear. "Sir, I don't know if I can take one more day of that man's talking. It is so annoying." She complained to him.
"I thought you would be like all the other girls and get under his siren spell." He said not moving to look at her.
"What? I thought only females were siren's."
"Well, you see his planet, the men are sirens. It's the only reason we keep him down here is to calm all the girls that need to be sedated without using any sedatives."
"Oh. Is that why he annoys me because of not being able to be seduced by him?" She questioned if she had an immunity to it.
"It looks like it. Since you don't want to be in the room with him you can help me with these papers." He pushed a stack towards her. She pulled off one paper and read through it. Some of the things she understood were things she read about. She went through the form and signed it.
After a few hours her hand started to hurt and she wasn't even done with the stack of paper. The door to the office opened. She saw Tabnam standing there in the doorway.
"You can take her." The doctor said. Ophelia got up and moved her way toward Tabnam. He moved in front of her and she followed him. They moved up the shaft to a floor she had not been on yet. They walked until they got to a door and he opened it.
Tabnam had taken Ophelia to the communication room. He stood off to the side with his arms crossed looking at her.
"We got the feed ready." Aurora said as Ophelia stood in front of a large screen and a small camera. Slowly the image on the screen came into focus and Adrik was there.
"Hello?" He smiled at her. Then his face became serious. "Where are you? Are you okay? Is there any way I can help you?"
Ophelia looked at Tabnam. "I'm okay." She looked back at the screen. "If I knew where I could tell you, but I'm fine here."
"I'm sorry. If I hadn't left you." His voice went out. She could see the guilt on his face.
"I don't think you could have, but don't feel bad nothing bad has happened to me." She weakly smiled at him.
"I-." Adrik and the image were cut off.
"Bring him back!" She cried out.
"Lia, I can't, the signal is gone." Aurora told her. Ophelia looked at Tabnam. He shrugged his shoulders and walked away. He left her in the room and Aurora came to wrap her arms around her.
"You got to see him. That's all you wanted." She said.
"It is, but I miss him more now." Ophelia cried. Aurora comforted her as much as she could.
