It was the night of Leo's party. He sent over a large dress that Ophelia had to hold constantly to move and to stand it was so heavy. She wasn't sure how she was going to get out of the house, let alone be standing because there was no way she could sit comfortably with the skirt in her face. "Ophelia are you ready we don't want to keep Mr. Doreton waiting." Her mother came into the room with a panic. Ophelia didn't say anything to her mother she just walked out of her room thinking about how she didn't want to fall. She was still mad at her for tonight. The thought of having to stand next to Leo the whole night made her sick. She headed for the vehicle that would take them to Leo's house. "Ophelia you look very lovely tonight." Her father said. "Thank you dad, it is quite uncomfortable." She still talked to her dad, even though he hadn't been around much. "Comfort is not a big deal. You are young and can handle it. Do not complain." Her mother spoke she turned her head away. The vehicle stopped and they waited for the door to open. "Darling go ahead and get out. I need to talk to Ophelia for a second." Her mother said. Her father got out and her mother closed the door. "Do not, I repeat, do not embarrass me." Ophelia didn't say anything. "Answer me do you understand." "Yes, I understand does not mean that I will not try to do it on purpose." Ophelia opened the door and let the men help her out of the vehicle. She fixed the dress a little by pulling it down. Then she grabbed the skirt and walked over to Leo who was waiting for her. "You look marvelous." Leo put his arm around her. He lead her into the house where many people decided to show early. He took her to a group of other men from all over but clearly has money. "Gentlemen, Miss Ophelia Verbeck." "Very lovely." The one to her right said. "Yes, a very lovely girl. Where has she been hiding?" The on in front of her asked. "She was at Direlili to learn more about the best ways of a lady." Leo said to them. "The best training a girl can get. Look at her she is at the top." The man to the far right said. Ophelia smiled and didn't say a word. She wanted to look around for Adrik, but she knew she couldn't leave Leo's side without any talk. She hoped Adrik would be by her side soon. "Only for the best for my daughter." Ophelia's mother came over to join them. "You are quite lovely yourself." The man on the left said. "Thank you." She curtsied for the men. "Gentlemen, if you do not mind I must talk Miss Verbeck to the others. Mrs. Verbeck you may stay and chat if you would like." Leo said. Ophelia heard her mother giggle and saw her nod. Leo moved her with his arm that he never removed from her waist. She didn't understand how he was able to stand so close to her with such a large dress. They walked farther into the house and to a group of men with women. "Mr. Doreton." The one in the middle of the group said. "Hello." He said to the group. "Ophelia Verbeck?" The one woman right next Ophelia said. Ophelia could not tell who she was. "It's me Caesaris." Ophelia was still unsure, but she smiled. "Yes. Of course." She lied. She never knew anyone besides Adrik and Leo. "You look amazing." Caesaris said. Ophelia smiled. "Miss Verbeck and Mr. Doreton." Ophelia heard Adrik's voice. She turned to look at him and so did Leo. "Mr. Myrmidon." Ophelia smiled at him. "Mr. Myrmidon made it to a party oh my what has this planet come to." Caesaris said allowed. "It is nice to know that my presence is a nice surprise." Adrik said with a big smirk. "Yes, always a pleasure." Leo said with gritted teeth. "If you do not mind. I would like to dance with Miss Verbeck." Adrik hooked onto Ophelia and pulled her away from him. They headed to the dance floor. "Thank you. I needed to get out of the claw of a grasp." Ophelia said as Adrik put his hands on her to lead her. They moved a few times around before they were interrupted. "May I please have Miss Verbeck to dance." Leo said. Adrik moved out of the way to let him in. Ophelia wanted to plead but Adrik had a face that looked determined. He moved into the crowd and watched the area. Leo held Ophelia tight to his body as they dance. His hand would slid down her back to rest on the top of where her rear was but it was covered by the large skirt. She lifted his hand to move it back up, but everytime it would slide back down. "Mr. Doreton please keep your hand at an appropriate height." She scolded him. "You are too irresistible to keep it appropriate." The smile on his face made her want to gag. A tap on his shoulder and he looked over to see. One of the gentlemen from before came over to dance with her. Leo moved aside to let him in. He kept his hands to the height she was comfortable with. A tap on his shoulder and there was Adrik. He moved aside to let him in. Adrik got close to her ear. "Let's move towards the garden away from him." He pulled back and lead her through the dance steps out towards the garden doors. The night air felt good on her hot flesh. "Your my saviour." She winked at him. "Anything for you." He bowed at her. They both laughed. They moved farther from the house. "Ugh, this dress is impossible to move in. I can see why he picked it because I can't run away from him." She laughed. "At least you were able to get away, but soon he will come looking for you." "I hope not. I can't stand him." She threw her back at a low wall to rest on. "You and me both." Adrik rested himself next to her. "Was it difficult?" She asked. "Huh?" He looked over at her. "I never heard from you. I don't know what happened while I was gone." She said softly. "I wrote to you all the time. I never heard anything from you." He looked over at her confused. "I never got anything. I wrote every day." She said feeling weird about how she felt next to him. "Do you think someone kept them from you?" He asked her. "I wouldn't doubt it. They were so mean there." Ophelia looked down at the ground. "Do you want to talk about it?" He asked. "Now is not the time." Ophelia said as she looked at him. "Who's out here?" A man yelled. They saw a light. Adrik took her hand with her other she grabbed her dress. They ran. They moved their way back to the house. They moved quietly into the house. Adrik let go of her hand. "You have to go find Leo, and I also can't stay any longer. When I can, I will let you know about the party." He gave a weak smile. He walked away. Ophelia watched him she didn't want to move from that spot. Once she couldn't see the crowd move for him she took a deep breath and headed for the people serving food. She didn't want to be in Leo's vice grip. "Ophelia." Her mother called with a hit of anger. She turned to see her mother's face fuming. She gripped her arm hard and pulled her away from the crowd. "What did I tell you. Do not disrespect me." She yanked her arm away from her mother. "Stop thinking about yourself." She moved away from her mother. "You know I think I am going to head back to the house. I am quite tired." She moved farther away from her and headed towards the front of the house to the vehicles. "Ophelia! Get back into this house right now!" Her mother called, but she kept moving. The driver of the vehicle was standing with all the others. "Hi." She smiled to the guys. "I really need to get out of here." "Miss Verbeck, that can't be you?" Henrich said. He was a driver of another family. All the drivers knew her because of her and Adrik playing away from everyone else. "Hello. I know I don't look like I used to." "I see still getting into trouble." He said. "When am I not in trouble." She laughed and they laughed. She turned to her driver. "Could I please leave. I can't take this." "We can leave." He smiled at her. "Thank you." They walked to the vehicle. "Wait for me." Ophelia heard her father. He jumped in behind her. "How did you know I was leaving?" She knew he father always left earlier than her mother when it came to parties. He said it was because he was getting too old for them. "Your mother came to tell me. She wanted me to talk you out of it, but I thought might as well join you instead." Ophelia was shocked that her father was a lot more lenient than he had been before. She smiled at her father. The rest of the way back was quiet. Her father looked very tired. She felt tired from carrying around the huge dress that no one in their right mind would be willing to wear for more than a minute. When they got to the house the drive went back to wait for Ophelia's mother. The house manager was at the door waiting for them. "Could you please help me out of this?" She asked. She didn't know if she could by herself. The manager followed her up to the room and help her undo the dress. The fabric fell to the floor. Ophelia stepped out of the fabric. "Please take it to my mother's room. I really don't want to keep it. Since the man gave it to me." She made a face. The manager laughed and then she laughed along with her. The manager grabbed the dress off the floor. "Thank you and goodnight. See you tomorrow." Ophelia smile. "Goodnight Ophelia." The manager walked out of the room with the dress, closing the door behind her. Ophelia grabbed a robe and wrapped it around her while she got herself ready for bed.
