Chapter 19

Ophelia woke up in the medical ward. She looked around and was hooked up to the different machines to monitor her. She moved her hands to feel her chest not a bandage around her ribs then up to her neck. Her necklace was not there.  A few seconds later the curtain on the little area she was in slid open. The doctor was standing there with a clipboard. "Your vitals signaled that you were awake and you are." He smiled at her. A smile that was rare to her. "This can't be a reason why I have time off." She looked at him wondering if he knew the future. His smile went away and his normal straight face took over. "No, I didn't think you would get hurt. I thought your well-being after seeing a place like that might make you unable to focus on work." "It looks like my body is worse than what I saw." The doctor sat in the chair next to her and moved some paper on the clipboard. "Why don't you tell me what you saw?" "I don't understand how that will help me? The planet is not something I thought I'd ever see, but it's not affecting me the way that man did." "So seeing all those beings drugged did not bother you, but the red lion did?" He asked as he wrote things down on the paper. "That being claims I'm his. That would scare anyone." She got a little aggravated by the way the doctor was talking to her. "Calm down, pet." Tabnam stood at the opening with his arms across his chest. "Why don't you leave her to me for a little bit." He said to the doctor. The doctor got up and walked past. Tabnam held out his hand to take the clipboard. He handed it over, not arguing to keep it. Ophelia watched him move slowly into the fabric room as he looked over her clipboard and sat in the chair the doctor was in, but scooting it closer to her. "What do you want to talk to me about?" After he sat there not saying a word. "I'm just checking. Not much to talk about. I have to get back to the new girl in my room and discuss things with her." Ophelia knew right then that she had fallen for Tabnam. Now she wasn't the only girl to ever be in his room alone. She turned her head and looked at her hands and went into a spiral of thoughts.  She started to wonder if she was really just his pet and this girl was more of someone he wanted in bed. She was possible getting over some drug issues and he figured the girl needed a place to be in, but why not the cells like she had been in. Tabnam put his hand on hers. She looked over at him. "Are you having a hard time over the thing with the Red Lion?" She blinked a few times. "Uh huh." She nodded. That's all she needed was to tell him that she was jealous of the girl he brought on the ship and was possibly hooking up with. "Don't worry, I'll make sure that doesn't happen." Ophelia felt like he was smiling under the helmet. "I do have a question." His voice was serious at that point. She didn't say anything. She looked at him scared. "Why did you lie to me about your name? It's Ophelia not Lia."  A question she wasn't prepared for. She wasn't sure to be honest to him or lie. She lied already and it came back. "I didn't want you to call me by my name. I figured a new one was the best option at the time." He didn't say a word. He got up and left her. She sat there for a little while. "Lia!" Meri came to see her. Ophelia stretched out her arms and hugged her. She felt her rib still hurt a bit but Meri was gentle. "You came to visit me." She looked around to see if Aurora was with her. "She's here just with Griffin." She laughed.  "So." Ophelia looked at her with unsure eyes. "Your name is really Ophelia. I don't mind. I like the name Lia for you better anyway." Ophelia's mouth dropped. "You're not mad?" After Tabnam's reaction she wasn't sure if the girls would feel the same way.  Meri laughed. "Oh no. That was your choice to change your name. I'm here because of something that you said right before Griffin put you to sleep." Her voice had concern.  "I don't remember saying anything." She thought back. "That's the thing you don't remember because you never will."  "I'm scared, what did I say?" "One word. Well, it was a name." Ophelia lifted her brows. "What name?" Ophelia said slowly. "The bosses." She scrunched her face. Ophelia grabbed the pillow from behind her and shoved her face into it. She screamed. "No! Oh God No!" The pillow muffled it a bit. She lifted her head from the pillow. "Why me? And why did that happen?" "Looks like you told her." Aurora said as she pretended to learn against the curtain as a wall. "Why did I say it?" She asked, unsure of a reason to say his name. "Duh, you fell hard for him." Aurora said. Ophelia made a face and Meri scolded Aurora.  "Ophelia, it's not that bad. You could be Ulyssa scheming her way to her. He seems to really like you." Meri put her hand on Ophelia's back and rubbed in circles. "No he doesn't, he has the girl he just got in his room. I'm just his pet. I can't have fallen for him." She put her face back into the pillow and sighed.  "Oh we were hoping you wouldn't know about that." Aurora said. "Well the thing is that most of the people-." "Excluding Ulyssa." Meri chimed in. "Yes, excluding Ulyssa, they want you with him." Ophelia lifted her head. "No. I don't care, well I do, but I don't want to have these feelings. I should have never let this happen." She took a deep breath. "I should be with Adrik, not your boss." Her voice cracked. After the few months she had been on the ship she couldn't get herself to not be in a state of falling for the guy who had taken her. She started to think that she had Stockholm. "I know what this is." She said after they were all quiet for a while. The two girls looked at her. "It's Stockholm. It's the only way to explain why I have these feelings." "I think you're trying to make an excuse for avoiding your feelings. Griffin's power doesn't give false names." Aurora put her arms across her chest. Ophelia sat there with nothing to say. "We gotta get back to work, we'll see you later." Meri said as she got up from her seat and the two girls left.
