Lee sat at her office deck and watched Luletta rummaging through the day’s mail. How could the blasted woman be so cold? Kimmy’s mother: The girl in Angela’s photograph. Little Kimmy who had been brutally raped, murdered, her body left naked and bleeding, and her mother acted as if the girl’s short life was insignificant. The woman’s stoic emotions were daunting. Did she have no heart? Luletta had asked for a couple of days off; to clean up some personal affairs... Like planning a funeral, mourning over a broken body, and burying a daughter?
