CHAPTER TWENTY-FOUR An hour after Rick left, Brian called. He sounded anxious. “Lauren, what did you find out about the security?” “It’s tight, Brian.” I wanted to try to talk him out of it. “There are cameras, and I’m sure other measures I didn’t see. The serum is under lock and key in a glass cabinet. You shouldn’t chance it. If they put you in jail, you’ll never find out what happened to your wife.” He sighed. “What other choice do I have? I could knock out the cameras and break the glass where the serum is stored. I have to do this, Lauren.” I felt a wave of pity at the sound of desperation in his voice.
