Chapter 3 His First Love

678 Words
"Oh my goodness!" Everyone seemed to have heard some shocking secret, and they all gathered around Nancy, eager to get the full story. "Wasn't it said that Lino wasn't interested in women? How could he have a childhood sweetheart? And she's our company's incoming female CEO?" Nancy boasted, "Look at you all, so out of the loop! How can you survive in this company without knowing such things?" To satisfy everyone's curiosity, Nancy lowered her voice and said, "My boyfriend went to university with Lino and our chairman's daughter. According to him, Lino and Cathy were childhood sweethearts. When they graduated, Lino immediately proposed to Cathy. But Cathy wanted to continue her studies abroad and didn't accept it. Lino got angry and broke up with her. But as soon as she landed, Lino personally went to the airport to pick her up. That alone shows how important this female CEO is to Lino. Maybe he'll propose to her again soon." Lino, who usually appeared so cold and unfeeling, was actually a passionate lover. Everyone was eager to see what this legendary female CEO looked like. Only Daisy, after hearing this, her chest aching, left her workstation absent-mindedly. So Lino broke up with her because his first love had returned. But if he already had someone he liked, why did he propose to her to be his mistress three years ago? And every time Lino had physical contact with her, the way he behaved always made her feel that he liked her. Daisy walked along, lost in thought, and didn't see the person coming towards her. Suddenly, the person collided with Daisy, and she fell to the ground before she could react. "The corridor is so big, yet you chose to bump into me, spilling my coffee and ruining my outfit. Are you doing this on purpose?" The person talking was Sophia, who always envied Daisy's good looks and the wealthy suitors around her. Sophia raised her voice deliberately, attracting many colleagues to come and watch the commotion. Daisy hadn't slept well for a few days and was still groggy after Sophia's collision. She looked up and sneered, "Do you think I'm easy to bully or that everyone here is stupid? Whoever bumped into whom, we can just check the surveillance footage." Hearing this, Sophia was furious and was about to raise her right hand to slap Daisy. Just then, a group of people suddenly appeared in the corridor. Led by the chairman's assistant, followed by several major shareholders of the company. Lino, and the incoming Cathy, formed a stunning sight. Others saw them as a perfect match, made for each other. As Lino walked past Daisy, he didn't even glance at her, as if she were an insignificant person. Seeing Cathy wrapped in Lino's arms, their relationship resembled a loving couple in their prime. Daisy's pale fingers clutched the hem of her skirt, trying her best not to show any signs of distress. The assistant turned back to Cathy and said, "I'm sorry for the scene you witnessed. It's our fault as subordinates. There won't be a similar situation again." Cathy used her gentle voice to address everyone, "Hello, I'm Cathy. I will be serving as our company's CEO from today. I hope we can work together, help each other, and make progress together in the future. At Terra, colleagues are like friends and family, and we should treat each other with sincerity and friendliness." After finishing her speech, Cathy walked up to Daisy, helped her up, and asked kindly, "Are you feeling ok? Do you need to go to the hospital?" Daisy didn't want to trouble anyone and was only thinking about leaving this embarrassing situation as soon as possible. She didn't want Lino to see her in such a humiliating state. So she stood up and said to Cathy, "I'm fine, thank you for your help. I have something to do, so I must leave now." Daisy hurried away, and Lino, who was standing beside Cathy, never looked at Daisy even once, leaving Daisy completely heartbroken.
