Getting Closer

"You don't have to find an apartment right away Meg. It's still your sem break right?" Her mother asked.

Megan, her mom, and dad are now having breakfasts. Even if she doesn't feel like it, she doesn't have a choice but to join them at the table. It's one of the things she doesn't like to deal with every day.

She wants to do whatever she pleases ever since she graduated high school. Although being in her first year doesn't make her independent right away. After all, she's still living from the allowance her parents are giving her.

"I don't want to have a hard time looking for a place when the semester already started Mom!" She explains.

"Well, Maggie, our princess has a point. It will be harder for her to find a decent place if she has to wait for the break to end." Her Dad said.

She smiled sweetly at her Dad to thank him. Her Dad is always on her side whenever her Mom is trying to kill the vibe she's on. But maybe she has to know why finding an apartment is a must for her right away.

"I also want to make sure that John won't be able to find me here. I want to get over him as soon as possible." She added.

"Oh, honey! Of course, you can do whatever you think will be best for you. But I hope you can stay here for a few days before the sem break is over." her Mom responded.

"Sure, Mom. I just need to find a place near the academy. Once I have it, I will go home and stay here for a while." She informed her.

"That's a good plan, Meg! Don't worry about your ex. He will never get any information from us in case he shows up." her Dad promised

"Thanks, Mom and Dad! Don't worry about me. I just have to distract myself for a few days." She said to make sure that they will not think she's not running away from her problems.

"Good! But don't you want to use one of the cars? I mean, we have a driver to take you to look for your new place." her Mom offers.

"No need, Mom! I met a very interesting Uber driver yesterday. He can help me to find a new apartment easily." She replied.

"How interesting?" Her Dad asked.

"Well, he's a former scientist and a paranormal expert. Maybe I can learn from him about my third eye." She informed them.

"Not that again, Meg! Do you still see ghosts?" Her Mom asked in a worried tone.

She nodded, "But it's not disturbing my studies so don't worry. I suddenly got interested in reincarnation." She said, thinking about how that could be possible.

Her parents look at each other with a puzzled look on their faces. They never understood how their only daughter, their heiress, sounds so weird. But since they love her unconditionally, they just play along with her stories.

"Maybe you can invite that Uber driver of yours for us to meet sometime." Her Mom suggested.

"His name is Cole. Don't worry, he's a decent guy. He's just driving for Uber now to support his experiments." She told them too much information.

She knows that they are not interested in his name or why he became a driver. But she found out that her parents trusted her more whenever she does that. They should know everything she's up to in case she messes up again.

"Oh, speaking of! He's already here!" She exclaimed and stood up from her seat.

"Alright, honey! Take care and call us if you need anything!" Her Mom sounds very concerned even if she's just going out to look for her new place.

"Thanks, Mom! I have to go now! Bye, Mom and Dad!" She said and rushed towards the door.

She knows that if she will give her Mom a chance, she might end up coming with her. She wants to practice independence since she's already in college. They want the same for her too but her Mom can be overprotective at times.

Megan saw Cole's car parked in front of their gate. She feels at ease with him even though she can just take their driver instead to accompany her. She wants to help her in a way by renting his service for the day. She knew that he needed the money so badly.

He's a scientist and that means he's that desperate to earn a living. If not, he doesn't have to end up being a driver. She wants to help her fellow paranormal enthusiast. At least in a way that will not hurt his pride.

"Good morning!" Cole greeted her right away.

She opens the door and gets into the front seat. Cole looks surprised to see her do that. From the looks of her mansion, she's not just an average citizen. She may be young but she's definitely filthy rich. But she's very down to Earth for sure.

"Good morning! Ready to drive me to adventure?" She asked as if they are going to another dimension.

"You're just planning to find an apartment right? Cole asked and chuckled.

"Yes, that's very adventurous for me. It's my first time doing it without my parents." She responded.

"I'm just making sure. We can't turn my car into a time machine." He replied.

"Haha, very funny!" She said but smiling.

She likes the mood that they are in. Cole is someone that you can easily get along with. He's not the same as the other men she met who looked at her as if they are already stripping her. This guy is very wholesome and it may take a lot before he will hit on her.

Cole started driving and focused his vision on the road. She's wearing a tank top and shorts with her sneakers. Usually, men will take notice of her legs. But this wholesome guy just ignores it. Maybe he doesn't find her attractive which makes her wonder.

"I've checked some places for rent around your campus. If you want we can start from there!" Cole said and handed her his smartphone.

She's impressed because the list has all the details she needs to decide. The only thing left to do is to visit the places. She didn't even think of doing that last night. Not that she's still thinking about her breakup with John. She simply didn't think about doing her research.

"Wow, you're really good! I never thought of doing it first. Thanks!" She complimented him.

"That's nothing! I just thought it will make it easier to find what you're looking for." He responded and blushed.

Megan noticed his cheeks are blushing. Maybe he's not used to compliments. He's very handsome looking. But he's also very simple. Maybe he doesn't know how attractive he is because he's a nerd. A smart guy with these looks is definitely a good catch!

She stops herself from admiring Cole's features. It's weird to check him out like that right now. She just broke up with her ex and now she's admiring the first guy he saw after the breakup. But she can't stop looking at his strong arms. His chest looks like a great place to be held captured.

"Did you see anything you like?" Cole asked her that made her come back to reality.

"You!" She said and realized what just happened. Cole laughed and looked at her. They are near the area where they should be looking for apartments.

"I mean, you can recommend where to start." She corrected herself.

She can't believe that she tried flirting with Cole while he's just doing his job! Megan feels embarrassed by what she just did. But being young makes her feel more adventurous about relationships. Maybe they meet each other for a reason.

"May I take a look?" Cole asks for his smartphone back.

He's driving slower now since they have reached the residential area. That means that she's been looking at him for a long time. Good thing Cole is not the easy type of guy like John. From the looks of him, he will not even touch her even if she asked.

Cole parked his car in a nearby building. She can't even recognize this area since she normally just stays in John's place after her class. She doesn't stray around unless he's with her. So now, she doesn't even know if this is the right place.

"It's only a five-minute walk to your school. Plus it's a safe area to live especially if you have to be home late." Cole informed her.

"Wow, you sounded like my father! Did you research that as well?" She teased.

"You're a funny girl! Let's go!" Cole said and opened the door beside her.

She can't help but catch his scent. It's an attractive manly smell that she can't just ignore. But Cole is such a gentleman and very careful not to brush his arms in any part of her. She can't stop but to look dreamy and imagine if he becomes her next boyfriend.
