Forbidden Love Affair

"There, you're free to go!" He announced after taking off the seatbelt.

"You're coming with me right?" She suddenly felt nervous about getting out of the car alone.

"Sure! Is this your first time doing this without your parents?"

"Sorta, I'm not very sure if I can look for the right place to get." She admitted.

Cole chuckled and remembered that he was like that once when he was still as young as her. His mom is the one who finds a place for him to stay. Even after college, he's still living in the same apartment. That's already eight years ago.

"Hey, don't laugh at me! I don't know how it works." Megan said.

"I'm sorry! I just suddenly feel nostalgic." He responded.

"I see. How old are you?" She asked.

"I'm already 28." He replied.

"So, you're eight years older than me! You can help me out with negotiating about the new place then!" She exclaimed.

"I guess. I've been living on my own for quite some time now. Let's go!" He responded and got out of the car.

Megan did the same so that they can start browsing for places. It looks like a great neighborhood. Although it's more for the working class already, it will be perfect for her. After all, she's already in the last year of her four-year course.

She was able to finish high school in just four years. Good thing she paid more attention to her studies back then. She got accelerated to attend the academy earlier than her classmates. That's when she met John in her second year and they started dating.

Megan and Cole walk around the apartment buildings. She's thankful for how helpful Cole is to her even if they just met yesterday. It seems that he's also good at negotiating. She was able to find an apartment that she wants to have.

After the paperwork for her to sign, she was able to get the contact for the lease of her new place. It's a one-bedroom fully furnished apartment. She prefers to have it that way so she doesn't have to worry about bringing other things but her clothes and personal items.

Megan decided to move to her apartment by next week. She needed to stay with her parents for a few days as her mom requested it. Although she will not exactly be just staying at home. She will ask her parents for them to have a vacation somewhere. That will keep her busy to avoid thinking about John.

It's almost noon so Megan decided to have lunch with Cole first. She wants to treat him for his assistance which he happily accepted. After all, she's still planning to spend more time outdoors. She doesn't want to give herself time for the breakup to set in. That will make her sad and she doesn't want to think too much about it.

Cole seems to be careful with talking to her and make sure he will not slip about her ex ex-boyfriend. She appreciated all his efforts and she has decided to hang out with him more often. They have a lot in common and it helps that he's eight years older than him. He's a smart guy who just wants to have a time out from his goals.

When the semester started, Megan became pretty busy in school. She has to make sure that she will pass all her subjects. If she wants to graduate with flying colors, she needs to exert more effort. But she still has time to hang out with Cole.

They became best friends and she decided to take a break from relationships in the meantime. She will have more time for that once she's done with college. Plus, it seems Cole is not attracted to her at that level. So instead of forcing it, she has decided to just wait for him when he's ready.

It's Saturday and Megan made sure to spend the entire day with Cole. He will pick her up from her place and help him with his new lab. He got funding for his theories and she wants to be a part of it. This time, they are trying to prove that the parallel universe is real.

She heard knocking on her door and rushed to open it. As expected, it's Cole with his rugged outfit.

"Ready for our science date?" He asked.

Megan chuckled, "Sure! A science date is very romantic! Hold this please!" She replied and gave a bag of snacks to Cole.

She locked her apartment and they went on their way. Cole is no longer driving for Uber. He needs to concentrate on their research and the foundation is expecting him to write a book about their discovery.

"Wow, we have a lot of chips! Great idea!" Cole said while inspecting the bag.

"Thanks! I just thought it's better to have them so we don't need to get out of the lab anymore." She replied.

They are now walking away from her apartment building. Both get into the car and he drives to the lab. It's also Megan's idea to have that place. That's why they were able to be awarded some funding for the research. Now they are business partners even if Cole didn't see their research as a business.

"I'm very glad I've met you! I guess I just needed a partner to make things work out." He blurted out.

"Well, it's hard to do science with an empty stomach. It's more fun to have snacks while doing something great!" She responded.

"Hey, you will be graduating next month! What do you want?" Cole asked since he suddenly remembered about it.

"I can't think of anything! Don't worry about it." She replied.

"So, that's how it feels to be rich! You already have everything so you can't even think about anything else you want to have. I wish I can say that line as well in the future." Cole reacted.

"Of course you will have everything that you ever wanted soon! Once we're done with the first project, we will have more and we will be both rich!" She encouraged him.

Cole parked his car in their lab garage. When he stopped the car, he pulled Megan closer to him and embraced her. She felt confused with his gesture but thought that he was maybe being emotional again. He's been like that ever since they got the funding for their research.

"Thank you!" He said.

"You're welcome! Stop being emotional!" She said and laughed.

"I'm not being emotional. It's your fault because you said something touching again." He replied and let go of her.

"What did I do again?" She asked.

Cole didn't respond and took off the seatbelt from her. Since they met, he has a habit of doing it for her. They both get out of the car and get into their lab. It's a joint project since they both have the same major. Megan thought that they should have it. That way, they will not have a boss.

"You want to know my answer to your question?" He asked.

"I thought we were no longer talking about that topic anymore." She replied and opened the lights of the lab.

"Beautiful! I still can't get over it every time!" Cole exclaimed.

Megan laughed at his reaction because he's calling their lab beautiful. It looks like a storage room since there is different equipment around. They haven't even taken out the other stuff from the boxes. It's a chaotic lab but they both like it because they can make it impossible to be possible around there.

"OMG! I think you're already in love with the laboratory! Do you want me to leave for a while so you can have your moment?" She jokingly asked him.

"Who said it's the lab I'm talking about?" Cole asked and walked towards her.

Megan suddenly felt that her cheeks were burning. She knows that she's blushing because of how Cole looks at her right now. But she didn't do anything and just stood there until he's closer.

"You will be graduating next month but I'm not sure if I can still wait until then," Cole said looking straight into her eyes.

"What do you mean?" Megan gasped, feeling that she's running out of air.

They are now standing face to face with each other. She can smell his manly scent from this distance. Megan can't stop herself from looking down at his lips and suddenly feel the urge to kiss them. But she's trying to hold herself back.

Both of them agreed to stay friends so that they can also be business partners. But now that Cole is standing this close to her, she doesn't know if she can keep that deal. He's now caressing her cheeks and made her feel dizzy.

"What do you want for your graduation, Megan?" He asked that question again.

"I want you to kiss me, Cole!" She said trying to make sure that her knees will not betray her since it's shaking right now.
