CHAPTER THIRTY-NINE
Milo had to reach Eric to tell him he saw Linda on the news. The grainy video showed her throwing a small bag over her shoulder, while running from an alligator with gigantic teeth. The newscasters referred to her as a terrorist wanting to plant plastic explosives. A dive team had been summoned to locate the substance in the bag, but found nothing. As if it mattered, the reporters called the toothy beast a crocodile. And, either way, Linda was in trouble.
Held for questioning until further notice, they identified her as Nancy Mulligan from California. When he heard the words Wakulla County Sheriff’s department on the television, Milo sat up and listened. Police detectives kept leaving him voice mails that came through on Linda’s phone.
