What is between us

Entering I pushing my way through a thong of people. It’s an already hot night but the club was humid and smelled of a mixture of sweat and stale alcohol. A-lining for the bar was my only escape to the stuffiness of the Friday night crowd. As soon as my butt hit the worn bar chair, there the bartender was with my usual. Straite whiskey. I put the glass to my lips and let the bitter taste burn my throat. I had gotten used to the taste of the last few weeks; it might not be great but it was the strongest drink this bar had. If I drank enough, I would forget what has happened. “May I have this dance?” he looked as if he had too much to drink already, or maybe that was my doing on him. Either way it was a complete turn off and there was no way I was going to ‘dance’ with him when I couldn’t even forget my last boyfriend. Plus, I know we would be doing more than just dancing or that’s what he would expect. I turned back to the bar and ordered another drink. “I would but I can't be leaving my drink unattended. Sorry" I wasn’t sorry, I had used this tactic several times over the last few weeks to avoid any male contact. That was probably the reason I would end up so drunk at the end of the night. The only person I would want to dance with is not here anyway. He was never going to be here again. “Not worries, I have a friend that could watch your drink.” he said this almost immediately, ignoring what I just said. He fixed his messy hair by running his fingers through it; as well as sluggish posture as if he had put on an act before when he first talked to me. “Why would I let your friend hold my drink, I don't even know you.” This seemed to offend him but he didn’t back down. “You will soon.” he leaned in whispering into my ear. I lean away crushing my back against the bar table in the process. His body blocks my view only for a second before he returned to his seat, where his friends were congratulating him as he made his way back. I turn glancing at my drink, it looked different but maybe it was a different brand. Brushing it I sip it taking in the chaos of the bar. I throw enough cash at the table for a tip and for the drinks on the counter. And make my way through the people. Pulling my skirt down as the room starts to get dizzy. The walls spin and the off-white blends with the rusty red of old wall paper. I run my hand along the wall to keep myself as I make my way to the back door. It must have been the lack of fresh air or maybe alcohol poisoning. It had to be. 2 / 3 My heel caught in door as I stumbled out of the bar, landing into face first into the concreate. I pull myself against the wall, laying my head between my knees. Taking a slow breath, to stop the loud beating in my ears as well as the dizziness that has overcome me. I was definitely bleeding and I most likely looked battered and the start of bruised around the nose and eyes. “Are you ok?” I look up; met with shine blue eye and ruffled blonde hair. “I don’t even know anymore. I probably just drank too much. You know?” I rest my head on my knees staring up at him. “Sure.” He slides down the wall and sat next to me I pull my phone out of my pocket, fumbling with the buttons to call my uber. The bright screen blinding my vison making the numbers fuzzy and more confusing to look at. I hear the blondie ask me something but nothing seems to register anymore.
