Chapter 1: The Deal and the Waitress
Alexander POV
Alexander Bling sat behind his massive glass desk, his sharp eyes scanning the contract in front of him. The numbers were impressive, the terms airtight. Everything about this merger made sense—except for the one condition he despised the most.
Marriage.
His jaw tightened as he glanced up at his father, Richard Bling, the man who had built Bling Enterprises from the ground up. “This is ridiculous,” Alexander said coldly. “You expect me to marry Veronica Kensington just to seal this deal?”
Richard’s gaze was unyielding. “You don’t have a choice, son. Kensington Industries is one of the most powerful companies in the country. This marriage solidifies our position at the top. It’s not about love. It’s about power.”
Alexander scoffed, leaning back in his chair. He had spent years building his empire, proving himself without the need for forced commitments. “And if I refuse?”
His father didn’t hesitate. “Then you can forget about your inheritance and your position at Bling Enterprises.”
A tense silence filled the room. Alexander clenched his fists. He despised being controlled, but he wasn’t about to let his legacy slip away.
“Fine,” he muttered. “I’ll do it.”
But deep down, he knew one thing for certain—he would never love Veronica Kensington.
Lily POV
Lily Carter wiped the sweat from her forehead, balancing a tray of drinks as she weaved through the busy restaurant. The Blue Ivy was one of the most high-end dining spots in New York, and she was used to dealing with wealthy, arrogant customers who barely acknowledged her presence.
But nothing prepared her for the moment she locked eyes with him.
Sitting in the VIP section was the most intimidating man she had ever seen. Alexander Bling.
She had heard his name before—CEO of Bling Enterprises, one of the most powerful businessmen in the country. He had an aura of authority, his sharp features giving nothing away as he sat across from a stunning blonde woman.
Veronica Kensington.
Lily approached their table with a polite smile. “Good evening. Can I take your order?”
Alexander barely spared her a glance. “A scotch. Neat.”
His voice was deep, commanding. It sent an unexpected shiver down her spine.
Veronica rolled her eyes. “And a martini.” She gave Lily a dismissive once-over before turning her attention back to Alexander. “Darling, you should start acting more like a fiancé. A little affection wouldn’t kill you.”
Lily’s breath hitched. Fiancé?
For some reason, the word felt wrong.
Lily adjusted the tray in her hand, balancing the weight of crystal glass with practiced ease. The Dining Spot was busier than usual, and she thrived in the rythm of service, finding soalce in the routine.
His gaze was still intense, studying her with an unreadable expression that sent a flush to her cheeks.
Veronica, exuding an air of sophistication, rattled off their selections without sparing Lily a glance. Alexander eyes remained fixed on Lily, a small apreciative smile tugging at his lips.
Alexander admires Lily's jet-black hair cascaded in loose waves down her back, catching the ambient light, and highlighting the delicate features of her face.
Alexander couldnt help but notice her lack of makeup, a rarity in his world of polished appearances. Yet, this absence only accentuated her natural beauty, her clear complexion revealing a few faint pimples that did nothing to diminish her allure. He found this refereshingly captivating.
Her deep, expressive eyes reflected a blend of kindness and quiet strength, drawing him in with an intense gaze.
She had never felt like this before. Alexander Bling is a successful and rich CEO, with his slick black hair, and top designer clothes, she felt low, than stunning blondie of the Kensington.
As she turned to leave, she caught Alexander staring at her. His gaze was unreadable, but for a moment, it felt like she was the only person in the room.
