And those secrets? They’re called vampyres. Before you freak out—no, they don’t sparkle in the sunlight or turn into bats. And no, they don’t drink the blood of random victims. That’s all nonsense. Vampyres are more controlled than that. They can keep their hunger in check. They don’t live in the shadows either, lurking in alleyways or waiting for you to turn a corner. They just prefer the night because, let’s face it, the sun’s not exactly their friend. And burning to ash at first light? Definitely a myth. But I’m getting ahead of myself. Let me introduce myself first. I’m Jade Carter. I was a normal seventeen-year-old girl—until yesterday.
