Chapter Four: Stranger Danger

Annalisa had a lot on her mind as she walked home from Ashley and Daniel's house, so much so that she almost didn’t notice she was being followed. Or at least she thought she was. There was a man who was not to bad looking walking about twenty or so feet behind her. She was only about a block from home when she was sure he was following her. After getting nervous she decided she wasn’t going to play the innocent victim.

She stopped in front of a shop; the streets were empty this time of evening. Anna reached into her bag and pulled out a can. As she stood there the man came closer to her. Just as he was about to speak to her, she sprayed him in the face. Then as he grabbed his face, she kicked him as hard as she could in the leg then took off running. She ran all the way home, once inside she went to find her father.

Vincenzo was in his office on the phone when Anna came in out of breath. She looked shaken up and he already knew why. Anna hear him say, “I understand, no I'll explain it.” Before he hung up.

Anna say down at the chair in front of his desk. Her father looked at her and she knew that she was about to get a lecture.

“Annalisa Valease Gambino how many times do I have to tell you that you’re not allowed to walk home by yourself. You know that the threat on our family is just as real here as it was in Italy. You are the only daughter of the Don which means you are our enemies best leverage for blackmail and whatever else they want to do to hurt me.” He continued as she heard the front door open and then there was a knock on her father's door.

“Come in,” her father says taking a break from scolding Anna.

As the door opened the handsome man who had been following her came in. And Anna realized she had royally messed up.

“Ah, Sebastiano you're here. I apologize for the confusion. I hadn’t told my daughter she was being watched.” Vincenzo says.

Anna was just a bit upset. Her father had been in on her being followed. The man grinned, “Eh it's my fault Vincenzo I think I scared her a bit. So, no hard feelings.”

Anna was furious, “Well yeah you scared me, I thought you were going to kidnap me or something.”

Vincenzo looks at his daughter who is glaring at Sebastiano, “And that is why you aren't supposed to be walking or going anywhere on your own Annalisa.” Vincenzo says to her firmly.

“Anyways, its time I introduce you, Annalisa this is Sebastiano Genovese.” Her father says.

Sebastiano smiles at her, “It’s a pleasure to meet you.” He tells her extending his hand.

She takes it for a brief second to not be rude and says, “Nice to meet you to.”

Now that she was really looking at him, she saw how handsome he really was. He was well built and tall. His hair was dark blond, his body tan from what she could see. He had to be in his mid or early twenties.

“Well now that you two have met Sebastiano and I have business to discuss. If you would Anna please go make sure your brother is doing his homework.” Vincenzo tells her.

Anna nods and then leaves the room. But there was something bothering her. She knew the strangers name, but how and from where had she heard it before. The thought bothered her while she helped Giovani do his homework. So, after an odd dinner with her family and Sebastiano, she pulled her brother Andrew to the side and asked him.

He laughed and explained that Sebastiano owned the other wine company that he and her father had been competing against. Her father was considering a merging of the two companies. Anna was very surprised after all she never thought her father would do that.

But for now, she put these thoughts aside. She had to get ready for graduation it was coming soon. The day of her graduation was wonderful, her father threw her a grand celebration and it was that day that her father broke the news to her...
