“Radames, you would think you would learn child.” The Goddess Bastet says as she approaches Radames in his vineyard. He gave her a slight bow.
“I don't want her to have to kill an innocent just so I can selfishly spend eternity with her. You know what could happen if the other gods are displease and refuse her sacrifice. They could take away the rebirth she has.” Radames says.
Bastet lets out a sigh, “I am the one who allows her to be reborn, one of the gods or goddesses can take that away. Your excuses are getting old. If you fail to give her immortality, I may not let you find her in this next life. Give her the option at least Radames. She has every right to make the choice for herself.”
Radames nods once. “Let’s get out of the sun and we can talk more.” He tells her.
She gives him a cat-like toothy grin and follows him inside.
“So where is she going to be this time?” Radames asks anxiously.
Bastet hesitates, she knows he loves her but she is unsure if he will give her the choice of becoming immortal. Bastet finally decides to answer.
“You have had it far too easy these last two times. If you want to truly spend eternity with her then you’ll have to figure out my riddle.”
She handed him a paper that read:
Where the barbarous leaders live aloft,
you'll find the ground is cold yet soft.
Once a people might and free,
the cynical rulers tell them what to be.
A daughter lost long ages ago,
where she is, we may never know.
But in her palace is what you seek,
just be careful of the will of the weak.
Cold and stubborn her people are,
but they will help you to travel far.
If all else ends in her demise,
you will suffer for you white lies.
The letter made no sense to Radames at first, but there were clues in there. She would be somewhere cold. And Bastet had given him warnings. He knew this time around he had no option but to give her the choice.
It took Radames quite a while to figure it out but when he did, he moved somewhere cold...
