When they arrived home, he walked ahead of her into his office, looking upset. Caroline smacked her lips with a tired look. She made her way into her room and got rid of the make up. What a drama that day was! She sat before the mirror and slowly got rid of her jewelry. His jealousy and over protective nature got into her mind. She blushed.
“He might be hotheaded, but he is a fierce lion. He genuinely cares about me. Though he won’t admit it, I am sure he does.”
She placed on her silky hair bonnet and changed into her nightgown. The look of Andrew's eyes into hers was one she couldn’t forget. The girl genuinely looked insecure and helpless when he’d seen his friend with her. She wasn’t sure why Drey chose to meet her at the ladies’s bathroom anyway. Who does that?
She pulled out her phone to chat with her younger sister about this.
“Caroline….” She heard Andrew voice call her as he walked into the room. She instantly delayed chatting with her sister.
“I shouldn’t speak to you after what you did today. I was enjoying that dinner, I was making friends…”
Andrew sat on the bed beside her and took her hands in his. He had kissed it slightly and stared intently into her eyes.
“There is more to this than just the party. As I told you before, there is something important I wish to discuss with you about.”
Caroline was curious now. He did say he wanted to discuss something with her, but she hadn’t taken him seriously. She avoided paying attention to the sweet caress he gave her palm and maintained her stern look.
“Bring your face closer to mine.” He commanded.
She agreed and pulled her face closer to his. His lips moved closer to hers and she could swear she imagined a kiss. As their lips grew closer and were a few inches apart. He’d rubbed his hand on her belly and slid it down her butt towards her pillow. She’d expected something more intense. To her shock, he had pulled out a document from underneath the pillow and placed it in her arm. She was sincerely shocked.
“What is this?” She asked as he drew away from her.
“Your grandmother owned a mine before she died. It turns out she passed it on to you, not considering the fact you know nothing about mining and prefer to be on your phone the whole day.”
Caroline didn’t care about his last sentence. It was the part she had a property that baffled her the most.
“You are joking, aren’t you?” She laughed. “I know I was close to Nana, but I never expected her to do this.”
“Why don’t you read the document yourself?”
She opened the document and scanned her eyes through it. She didn’t understand much written on it except her name written in bold letters and a recommended place to sign.
“Wow! I can’t….I can’t believe my grandma found me worthy.”
“I also can’t believe it either.” Andrew wasn’t pleased with the decision. “But at least, it will shape you and give you something to do.”
“I hate when you call me jobless.” Caroline looked pissed.
“Then, why don’t you sign this document and get yourself something to do?”
She looked through the document still unable to understand what it said.
“What does the document say? I can’t sign what I can’t read.”
Andrew ran his hands down her thigh and kissed her on her forehead.
“Do you trust me?”
“I do, but my dad warned me not to….”
Andrew placed his index finger on her lips, shutting her up.
“Say no more, my wife.” He’d rubbed her belly again, still gazing deep into her eyes. “See this as a test of our love for each other. See this as nature testing you to see if you can trust me with what your grandmother has given you.”
Caroline felt weak by the solemn tone of his voice. His touches overshadowed her rationale senses, making her see only the father of her child. She loved him, she trusted him and she would do anything to prove how much she loved him. She had let him kiss her on the lips deeply and squeezed her hands slightly.
“I will sign it.” She eventually agreed with a smile. She’d grabbed a pen from inside her drawer and signed it. She wasn’t sure of what she signed, but she had full faith in her husband and knew what she signed couldn’t be wrong.
“We will set things up for you my love.” He assured her before leaving.
She felt her heart race against her chest. That was an intense moment for her. It wasn’t a moment that occurred all the time, but when it did, it sent her shivers. With a happy mood, she’d decided to call Laura and feel her in on what went on. The call rang but Laura hadn’t picked up. This got her a bit worried. She called her again and the call was purposely cut short. When she tried the third call, the phone was switched off.
Caroline gazed at her phone screen with a tensed look.

LAURA POINT OF VIEW
Laura sat at a diner, waiting patiently for someone to join her. There were few customers, dining away and discussing their own businesses. She’d stared at her watch and groaned.
“Why is he taking so long?”
Her phone rang, and she had checked to see who it was. To her shock it was Caroline.
Caroline?! She thought in her mind. Is she done with the party?
“Hey!” She heard a voice greet her.
She turned towards the direction of the voice and caught sight of a smart looking young man, smiling nicely at her. She ignored the call and stretched out her hand for a handshake.
“I see we finally meet in person for the first time.”
“It hasn’t been easy trying to get off Andrew’s watchful eyes.” He replied with a tired tone.
“I knew working with Andrew would be such a stress. But you are the only one on the inside who can help me sabotage my sister’s relationship, Drey.”
Drey smirked.
“I know my friend in and out. I made an attempt today. He was so furious….”
“Continue to make an attempt. Continue to make him doubt Caroline’s affairs with you and eventually draw them apart. We went to the same high school, according to your biography online. This shouldn’t be hard.”
Drey pulled out his cigar.
“It has just started, dear Laura.”
Laura laughed evilly and felt her phone vibrate again. She’d pulled it out and frowned at the sight of Caroline’s call. She instantly hung up and turned off her phone.
“I can’t wait for her to belong where she should be.”
