The summer before her senior year starts, Nicole is uprooted from the town she grew up in and is forced to move across country due to her parent’s new job opportunities. Starting in a new school is hard enough especially when it seems as if you have a target on your back for the infamous bad boy, Liam Stone. But what’s worse? Of course, of all places in the world her parents could move, it would be right next-door to, you guessed it, the Stone family. As much as Nicole tries to focus on her studies and keep her head down, Liam continues to make her life a living hell. Between Nicole’s fiery temper, and Liam’s possessive and broody attitude the two get swept up in anger, lust, and everything in between. But will everything come crumbling down around them when something (or someone) from the past makes an appearance?

Chapter 1
************ Nicole’s POV*************** Groggy eyed and reluctant I got out of bed to grab my phone off the charger and turned off my alarm. I looked at my room and saw all of my many still unpacked boxes. Mom and dad moved us across country for their career without any consideration that it was my last year of school. No consideration that I had a boyfriend, best friend, a life and future planned out. Don’t get me wrong, the house was beautiful. A large white two-story house with a bedroom that was at least double the size of my old one… It’s not that I didn’t like it. Okay if I was being honest I loved it. My parents got me a new room set too, with a large 4 bed with a beautiful dark oak finish and a matching dresser. I was able to paint my room a pastel lavender, pick out a rug I loved, the whole 9. But it didn’t make up for the fact that I was alone here. It felt like a bribe. Like my parents seriously think that getting me all of this stuff would somehow make the situation better. Well didn’t. I still felt hurt, confused and completely and utterly alone. Today was my first day of senior year, and I was dreading it more and more. I’m still hurt and upset that they could do this, take me away from all of my friends and the town I had grown up in for the sake of their business. I pleaded with them to wait a year and let me finish school but it was no use. They weren’t super strict but mom could be scary when mad and I was not wanting to push her limits too much. “Nicole, your breakfast will be ready in 10 minutes. You can’t be late in your first day!” I heard mom yell from the kitchen downstairs. “ILL BE DOWN IN 15 MINUTES” I yelled back as I snapped out of thoughts. I needed to get ready, no use thinking of the past now. Luckily there was a uniform at my new school so I didn’t have to worry about picking out an outfit. I sat down at my vanity, and began to apply a few dabs of concealer, blush, some minimal eyeshadow and mascara. I sighed, realizing I barely had time to do anything with my hair. I quickly grabbed a brush and pulled my long brunette hair into a high ponytail and tied a white ribbon in a bow onto it. I then went into my closet and took out my uniform. It was a blue and white plaid skirt that came down to my knees, a white button down colored shirt, and a blue blazer. I took the knee-high white socks I had laid out the night before, and put on my chunky black Marys Janes. As was slipping my shoes on, I heard my mom once again call down from the kitchen “seriously Nicole, get down here breakfast is getting cold, and you can’t be late today!” I did a quick once over in the mirror, taking in my appearance. Honestly, for getting ready in 15 minutes I couldn’t ask for much, but I was happy with how I looked. I grabbed tube of lip gloss and the fantasy novel I was currently reading, shoving them in my book bag as I made my way down the stairs. “I’m coming Mom, you know I can eat breakfast in five minutes. We won’t be late!” Mom just raised an eyebrow at me as she placed a plate of scrambled eggs and buttered toast on the kitchen island. “Eat” she said. I flashed her my award-winning smile and quickly ate my breakfast before we walked out the door. Both of my parents were able to afford a nice house in an even nicer neighborhood in the move since they were both making exceptionally more now. With the raises, my parents wanted to make sure I was getting the best education possible, so they put me in a prestigious private school for my senior year. From what I heard, Mom had gone back-and-forth with the school committee about getting me in, luckily for me, I’ve always made all A’s and stayed out of trouble. So with that in mind, they accepted me, making it very clear that it was against policy to accept new students their senior year of high school. However, since we just moved to the state and I’ve always made good grades and stayed out of trouble they would make an exception. I was unsure of how I felt about it though. It’s not like before we were poor by any means, we were just regular. Now I was going to be thrown into a school where everybody either came from an elite family or had lots of connections and grew up that way. It made me nervous to think about interacting with other students who had been there all three, going into four years too. They all already had their own friends, their own clicks and circles, and I was an outsider, in so many ways. My goal for the year was to keep my head down, work hard on my studies, and spend my spare time reading books until I graduated. I planned on moving back to the town I grew up in after I graduated. My boyfriend, Thomas and I both agreed that we would both get part-time jobs while in college so we could get a small apartment together. There is no need to create anything other than friendly acquaintances this school year. The school was very close to our new home so I can walk there most days but Mom wanted to drive me my first day of school. I had a license and planned on getting a car soon but I’m still saving up. So for now it’s either walking or rides from her, as Dad leaves very early in the morning to get to the office. I rested my chin in my the palm of my hand as I look out the window on our way to school. I felt my phone buzz and looked town to check it. Thomas: Have a good first day of school babe. I’ll be thinking about you all day :) Me: You too! I’ll call you after school xoxo I shoved my phone into the front pocket of my book bag and continued to look out the window. It’s only a 5 minute drive so we were there in no time. We pulled up to the massive 3 story school, I looked up at the two giant brown stone pillars with a sign that read “Welcome to Gineva Academy” that towered over me. “Well honey, have good first day. Dad and I won’t be home till late tonight due to work” she tells me as she patted my lap. “I will mom, love you” I told her as I stepped out on to the sidewalk. “Love you to sweetie” she called out right before I shut the car door. Well … let’s get today over with.
