Chapter 3

A month later… Brielle and Jessica were walking to class. Brielle paused and held her stomach with one hand while the other covered her mouth. Jessica stopped and glanced at her worriedly. “Are you sure you're up for classes?” Brielle nodded and swallowed the bile. “Yes, I can't stay cooped up in the dorm room all day. It's high time I start living my life.” She had decided to keep the baby so now she has resolved to live her life to the fullest. “So you didn't exchange numbers or something?” Jessica asked and Brielle hung her head. “No we didn't. The only exchange was…” she tried as her cheeks turned beet red. “I just have to get through today without puking and falling asleep in weird places.” Jessica snickered and Brielle grunted realizing that she was remembering an incident from last week when Brielle had puked in an eatery. “I'm sure nothing like that will happen.” Brielle shrugged and walked off. “See you after classes,” Unfortunately Jessuca was a senior and she was a junior so they hardly shared classes. Although they were in the same field, they were a class apart. “Don't worry I have Psychology next so we'll meet there. Hang in there until then,” Brielle nodded and dragged herself to the west wing while Jessica took the stairs. The class wasn't so bad and thankfully, Brielle managed to get through it without puking or falling asleep even though the lecturer had been boring. “Hey girl, you look good.” Jessica grinned as she walked up to her. “Ready for the next one?” Brielle shrugged and hung her head. “Let's just get this over with.” “Have you heard?” They heard someone scream behind them and Brielle scowled. Jessica leaned her head closer to listen in. “Shhh, it sounds juicy.” Brielle rolled her eyes but listened in too. “We have a new psychology teacher.” Brielle and Jessica exchanged looks. “He's handsome and so cute!!!” one of the girls gushed Brielle rolled her eyes again. “Let's go meet this hunk then,” Jessica tugged her arm and Brielle grumbled as she followed her to their next class. People were flooding into the lecture hall as they walked in and two girls even bumped into them in their haste to get in. Brielle tsked and held one hand protectively over her belly. “Watch where you're going,” she roared, getting irritated. “Cool off mama, come on.” Jessica soothed as she led the way to two empty seats in the middle row. The front row seats were already filled with thirsty eager girls who were redoing their makeup and adjusting their clothes in anticipation for the hunk of a lecturer. Right on cue, footsteps could be heard and immediately silence fell in the room as students waited for him to make an appearance. Everyone of the eager students watched as a tall man walked into the room carrying a briefcase in his hand. He set the briefcase on the platform and looked up. Brielle's eyes widened as she saw his face. Impossible. “He is…” Jessica was fawning over his looks and didn't notice brieles strange behaviour. “He's so handsome…oh my God!” Brielle winced and closed her eyes praying for it to be a dream because in what reality had she seduced and slept with her professor? “My name is Nikolai Jacobs. My friends call me Nik but to you I'm Mr. Jacobs.” He spun and faced the board. Brielle opened her eyes just then and her gaze fell on his backside and she flushed. “This wasn't a dream.” She recognized that backside anywhere. “What's wrong girl? Are you feeling sick?” Brielle shook her head but she groaned as a wave of nausea hit her. No not now, she thought in horror. “Girl you're acting strange. What is going on?” “I hate side comments in my lecture hall.” Nikolai said in a loud voice and the room fell silent. Jessica bit her lip and Brielle held her breath as they waited for him to call them out for disrupting his class. He didn't and simply turned back to the board and continued teaching. Brielle let out a breath and forced herself to focus on the lecture more than the lecturer. **** “Well that's over,” Jessica sighed as Nikolai dismissed the class. Brielle leaned against the back of the seat and sighed. “I am hungry and very irritable.” “Come on,let's get you some food.” She shook her head and pointed at Nikolai. “That's him,” Jessica formed at first not catching the meaning initially. “I don't understand. Do you know him?” “He's thean from the party.” She paused before speaking again. “He's the father of my child,” Jessica inhaled sharply as her eyes widened. “No way,” Then she chuckled. “If those girls find out that man is going to be a father, they'd probably step aside.” Brielle rolled her eyes and sighed. “I don't know what to do.” “Yes you do,” Jessica narrowed her eyes. “You've been trying to find him and now he's standing in front of you. Don't be a chicken and confront him.” “What if he doesn't want the child?” She asked and gulped as tears clouded her vision. Jessica shrugged. “Then we'll both take care of the child. I'm very good with kids.” Brielle laughed and brushed off the tears in her eyes. “Thank you so much Jess. I love you,” “I love you. Now go and have that talk. I'll be waiting in the room with some food and ice-cream incase.” Brielle took a deep breath and got up. She eyed Nikolai's back nervously and took the first step. As she walked, she rehearsed what she'd say in her head, going over every possible scenario. “I was wondering if you were going to keep avoiding me.” Brielle looked up to see Nikolai blocking her path. “It's really you,” she whispered in disbelief. Seeing him up close like this was unnerving considering she thought she'd never see him again. “In the flesh baby. I'm sorry I ran off like that. Your roommate came back and I didn't want things to be weird.” “She didn't see you?” she frowned. Jessica was usually very observant. “I snuck into the next room.” She chuckled and shook her head . “Well..” “You look good.” She flushed them coughed as she remembered why she was standing there. “Can we talk? There's something I'd like to tell you,” He frowned as he picked up his briefcase. “Sure, lead the way.” Brielle turned and searched for Jess but found her gone. Jess was right, whatever happened she'd be there for her child either as a co-parent or a single one.
